Help?!?!?!?!?!? This Is Not A Good Thing

Recommended Posts

k.. i know i need to just suck it up and be happy, but i just don't know what to do.

So here goes.. My health insurance ran out, so im not getting the post op care that i need. My 3 month appointment is on the 5th and i can't go. Im in excruciating pain because of my cyatic nerve (sorry if my spelling is off) so i can't really exercise...which in turn means ive only lost 6 lbs this month. Im really dissappointed in myself. And I do not want to get down because when that happens my mind automatically reverts to food!

Please help me.. i am askin now cuz i already see my past habits rearing its ugly head!!!! I know im doing well, but i feel like i did 45 lbs ago.. not wanting to move cuz im in pain and just wanting to wallow in food! Luckily I can't actually fit that much in me so i guess i wont be eating a lot, but i will start eating the bad things.

also anyone know if i can go to like med7 or something if i don't have med insurance?

Blackanese25 not sure about the insurance but I know a little about sciatic nerve problems. I always get them especially if I turn the wrong way in a chair. The best thing my chiropractor suggested to me when I feel them is to put ice compress on the area of your back were you sciatic nerve is (15 min off, 15 min on). I know this sound simply but it really works. Once the swelling went down I was able to function again. I hope this helps.

i havent gone to any of my post op appointments. I just go to my nut appointments where she measures me and takes picts, reviews my intake. all of this is included with my approval of the surgery so it doesnt cost me anything. you might want to check with your old insurance about follow up care, since the surgery was done when you had the insurance, they might be obligated to pay for follow up care anyways. just a thought!

Check with your old insurance about follow up care and also call your doctor’s office and see if they won’t offer you a sliding scale fallow up appointment. Don’t get down on yourself for a 6 pound loss that is very good! It sounds to me like you need to find a support group that you can go to in person to help you stay on track and stay motivated.

You are doing really great. You can go to a free clinic here in CA for your sciatica. Also call you doc's office and tell them that you don't have any insurance now and can they give you a reasonable rate. Those doc's are as in need of money like we are. They will give a reduced rate because basically they just check to see how your doing anyways. It could be different if there's complications though. Just a thought! Hang in there and keep Rockin that Sleeve! ;)

Check with your surgeon. The cost of my surgery included all of my regular follow-up appointments as well as additional appointments with a nutritionist and physical trainer. I was amazed at everything included in the price. I don't even have to pay my co-pays when I go because I have a credit on my account that covers those as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
