Pen to write on my boobs

Recommended Posts

GE- not everyones ports are placed in the same spot. For me I have my port closer to the middle rather than right or left. BUT I do have an incision very close to the bra line, like many others do, that bothers me if i wear a bra. I wish i would have asked to have it a bit lower.

I'm puzzled by this whole thread. I just checked, and the bottom of my bra is well up onto my ribs. I can get four fingers between the lowest rib and the bottom of my boob. Won't the port go under my diaphragm and below my lowest rib, e.g. in the upper right part of my abdomen? If that's the case, it shouldn't interfere with my bra.

What am I missing?

Kristen,

What a great point! I am allergic to penicillin too. I'm scared to death what can happen when your sleeping and I don't want someone to give me PCN by mistake. I don't trust anyone either, before surgery I told every person who i spoke with that i was allergic to PCN. Thank God i did because i guess it's standard to put a bag of antibiotics in you while in surgery and the general Dr. signed off on PCN for me. The nurse caught it before i even met with her but it was the first thing from my mouth and she said.. I got cha... lol but the sharpie idea is great, just for insurance on your life. Penicillin is so common that Dr's don't think twice about ordering it or members of pcn's family for you.

Diva- best of luck to you! You are in great hands and many wishes and prayers are being sent your way for an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Thank you -I am supposed to be non-latex too so I better write that on me. I've never been allergic to latex for anything except once. The doc said thats all it takes.

KMO,

I was beginning to think I was going overboard, but you just confirmed why I thought of writing it in the first place. I worry enough about the allergy here in the US and have almost been given it before here. I'm going to Mexico for my surgery and I just don't want to take any extra chances with the language barrier. I figure in this case, it's definitely better to be safe than sorry. Anything given to me when I'm not alert will be done through IV so that's why I decided to write it on my arms. I know that nobody's perfect, and mistakes happen. I actually lost my daughter to a medical mistake. Dr.'s and nurses aren't more perfect than I am. We're all people. I have to do everything in my control to make sure that everyone knows.

Diva....

Good luck tomorrow! Can't wait to hear how it went. Latex allergies can be very serious. I'd make sure I went to all ends to notify everyone you come across. Do whatever it takes!

Kirsten

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
