Can I Just Live Off Muscle Milk Light Please?! =)

Recommended Posts

It has become really hard for me to stomach the Protein Shakes, so I tried muscle milk light a while back....YUMMMMM!!!! It goes down so good,my sleeve is lovin it! They are so darn expensive though! I have one for Breakfast every morning after I get in my first 20 ozs of water...My problem is,when I try to eat like a bit of cottage cheese or soft chicken or something for lunch or dinner, I can't get enough down for it to be nutritionally good for me! And what I do get down keeps me so full for the rest of the day/night that it is hard to even get in the rest of my required liquids! Sooo here is my question: Can't I just live off muscle milk light and Water for now? LOL Seriously though,I am thinking of just having a couple muscle milk lights a day,it would be 50 grams of Protein, 320 calories and 9 grams of fat! Then once I get that and my liquids in,I can try to eat something more solid. Idk,I think being 1 month out is a very confusing time, but I am enjoying learning more about my body and the signs it gives. Still love my new sleevie!!!! =))

I think that's what a lot of people have to do in the beginning to get their Protein in at first. It is very difficult to get all the protein in with food, or would require a lot of grazing. I may need to try Muscle Milk Light again. Or maybe it was the reg I tried? But I didn't like it, it had a strong protein taste. But I LOVE the Atkins and have started using them again to help get my protein in, and for convenience, and they are like treats for me because they actually taste good. I eat a good bit of protein with my food, but sometimes because I am not where i can cook, or nothing sounds good, then I have it as back up. I don't see anything wrong with using them early or, or even later like I am.

:)

I stay away from the reg bc it has like 240 or 260 calories. I don't know what it is,I just love the MML for some reason. It goes down wayyyy better than Protein shakes. =)

I work in the building right next door to Cytosport, the company that makes Muscle Milk. My co-workers and I always try to guess what flavors they are working on each day based on the scent. When they are manufacturing, you can smell it for about a block in each direction! :)

don't expect nutrition from eating, that is why we take the Vitamins. You can't drink or eat enough for 6 to 8 weeks to make much of a nutritional difference.

Take what you can tolerate but you should be using shakes between meal Snacks and get three regular meals in. Something like slice of toast, soft scrambled egg for breakfast, shake snack, lunch half a sandwich, fruit, cheese, another snack then dinner.

My nutritionist wanted me to reduce shakes after two weeks and to get to real food.

You're so early post-op that you can still use Protein shakes as your primary source. I think it's fine as long as you are working your way up to solid foods, and you are doing that. :) Just don't forget that the goal is to eventually get all of your Protein from real food rather than the shakes.< /p>

I just started using up some of my Protein powder by adding it to my Decaf coffee in the mornings. Someone suggested adding Protein Powder to OJ to make a smoothie and a light bulb went off in my head! :) I decided I'd use my chocolate protein powder instead of flavored powdered Creamers, and it's pretty good. So, I'm giving myself a daily protein boost while enjoying a nice cup of joe!

Yes I am slowly adding food. I can eat pretty much anything now,it's just that it isn't near enough for nutritional value-at all. And it keeps me full fo SO long. So,I try to get in most my protein and Water, then look to the food, not sure if that's the best idea, but it's what I'm goin with for now. lol. Ooohhhh my,okay I am so in need of some coffee! I ran out of chocolate powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury so I need to order more. I love love love eggfaces Protein shake recipes. Cannot wait to try some!

I just bought a Muscle Milk Light in chocolate to try! I am burnt out on Premier brand, and I want to at least continue to drink one shake a day for muscle mass. My doctor says it certainly can't hurt. Hope I like it!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
