A New Sleeve For Dooter

Hey all! I had trouble with the hospital internet, so now that I'm back at the hotel, this is the first chance i've had to check in. Surgery went well, my hernia fixed as well. I've been having a recurring pain that feels like a vise has gripped my stomach then releases. The hospital doc says that some people get this and some don't. Darn. Should go away soon. I did spend the first night and morning throwing up. I was strict NPO until the upper g.i. the next morning, so a bunch of junk kept collecting in my throat while i slept. Then I'd wake up and swallow and immediately hurl. Dr. Kim assured me I didn't bust anything. Passed the leak test and then right away on to sip sip walk walk...ad nauseum. I just now tried to take a gas x strip to see if that would relieve any of my discomforts...well....it came back up too. :s Ok...note to self. Time to walk....then maybe a nap as a reward... ;) We were going to leave Dallas for albuquerque on Friday, but now I'm thinking Monday. This is a pretty hard ride, but I'm glad to be on the other side of the major hump. (That WAS the major hump, right???)

glad you're through surgery! so sorry you're having a hard time with it! It will only get better from here!

Sorry to hear about the rough start, but hopefully it will get easier from here on out. Best of luck to you!

Congratulations!! Sorry to hear you are having some minor adjustments however these will subside. Soon you'll be on cloud nine as the scale goes down...down...down!!

Hi Dooter! Congrats. I'm a little bit ahead of you and I can say, 2.5 weeks post-op, that life gets better soon. I had the gripping/wave stomach pain thing, too. It went away in the first week. It's all a bit of a blur now. On about day 5 I was able to take regular drinks (not sips) and felt hydrated and better. I continue to get stronger, more alert, and feel better and better each day. Hang in there! Yeah for all of us!!!!!!!

Ya, waking up fourth day here, and so far no bubbles. It's gross. Makes you have to spit. Very weird. Today is looking better all around. Able to drink a little better. It's really hard to drink what they want you to drink when you're hooked up to an i.v. Being off it helps, so do your best, but they won't get mad if you don't quite hit the mark every time. ;)

Hope u get better :)

Yes, the clouds are clearing and I can see improvement. You went to Dr. Kim- I have to tell you, I can NOT say ENOUGH wonderful things about Forest Park Medical Center and Dr. Kim and his people!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!! All I can say is, Money is a wonderful thing! That was the most awesome experience. (painful, but you know what i mean...) And actually the luxury for what i paid was unbelievable. Dr. Kim got $5050, and Forest Park got $7000. I got a HUUUGE private room complete with huge bathroom and shower, doting care by multiple people 24/7....just outstanding. You can hardly walk into the door of an emergency room with a bad gall bladder for less than $5000. Seriously.

Hope u get better :)
