Another "should I Be Able To Eat This"? Post :)

Recommended Posts

So, I am really wondering. I didn't deliberately set out to overeat, I planned these amounts, but after eating it, I wonder if I should have been able to eat what I ate for lunch. I'm 2 months out and at lunch, I had:

4 oz fat free cottage cheese

2 oz brie

2 slices of prosciutto

6 oz strawberries

I can kind of see that the cottage cheese and strawberries with chewing almost become liquid. So may pass through easier. but Is this too much to be able to eat, 2 months out? I was eating about 700-800 calories a day, and several suggested that I move my calories up for a few days to see if it moves me out of my stall. So my whole day I have planned today comes out to about 950 calories, 118 g of Protein, 39 g carb.. With exercise, my net will be about 750.

Where were you at 2 months out? What could you eat, what was your general amount of Protein you could get in, and how many calories??

How long did it take you to eat all of that? Did you drink liquids at the same time?

I don't really think its all that much - especially since so much of it was cottage cheese.< /p>

It took me somewhere between 20-25 minutes, no liquids. I'm quite good about no liquids.

Now, at dinner, I had 4 small grilled shrimp, about an ounce of pork and less than an ounce of thin cut grilled beef (we went out for vietnamese) and I was STUFFED. That was about 4-5 oz total, that seems more like it. I guess cottage cheese and the soft brie were just a bit more sliderish than I would have guessed.

Dorrie -- I would kill to feel restriction after 4-5 bites. Wow!! I am seriously wondering if I am going to have to be one of those people that revise to RNY in a couple of years.

Yup.....you nailed it on the head. EVERYTHING you ate there.....minus the ham....YUM....can get mooshed down and slide through pretty easy. Still not a bad meal though....you got in some awesome Protein, low carb. The fact that you had dense Protein later and was stuffed just proves it.

For Breakfast I just had two hard boiled eggs, and two slices of bacon.

That seems like a lot to me at 4 weeks.

Hopefully it will keep me full for a while,

I probably could have done the brie and the prosciutto at one sitting. I can do about an ounce of cheese and two ounces of lean meat, and I'm satisfied. I rarely eat to a "full" stage, I don't think I have as much capacity as many.

I don't count calories at all. My nutritionist told me not to count calories anymore. That is a huge relief to me, although I do take a look when I am reading labels at the store.

I can eat a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese with a few pita chips, or a Wasa cracker with a Laughing Cow or slice of cheddar.

Last night I, I didn't weigh my steak, but I would guestimate it was about 3 oz and I was uncomfortable after and had to go for a walk. While making dinner we nibbled on some cheese and wine (Valentine's Day) and so I think that was really too much.

Doggz, I think you are right. I am guessing my sleeve holds a bit more than some, but if I stick to dense Protein, that is the key. I have been trying the past couple of days to consciously consume more calories to try to break my stall. Not sure its working. I'm not sure how much "more" a person needs to eat (or if it should be a different type of food) to break a stall.

Oilsooner, yum, hardboiled eggs. Those really fill me up when I have them, so I bet they will keep you full feeling too.

Amanda -- I wish I had lower capacity, but I guess all in all, I still eat a ton less than I used to, so if you look at it from that perspective, its still major improvement.

Thanks everyone!

Well, your ticker says you are doing well. Congratulations!

In spite of my limited capacity, my weight is not coming off super fast. It's all good though, because I know I'm going to get there eventually!

I'm losing slow too. My ticker is total weight loss, so I've lost....26 lbs in almost two months? I mean, thats awesome, I'll take it, but I was hoping for more. Oh well, I figure even if I just lose an average of a pound a week from here on out, by end of year I will be pretty close to goal! I was just hoping for more rapid loss.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
