Change In Capacity?

Recommended Posts

I've just passed the 8 month mark and have noticed a sudden change in how much I am able to both eat and drink, and how hungry I am. Did anyone else have this??

I used to get a 6 oz. container of Greek yogurt and know that I would eat half of it with some blueberries or nuts for Breakfast, and eat the other half as a snack later in the afternoon. Well, little by little I was able to eat more than half at a time, and this morning I woke up hungry and ate the whole 6 oz. for Breakfast, and while I was full after that, I wasn't stuffed! I know yogurt is a soft food and goes down easily, but I've noticed it with other, denser foods too. Honestly, it's sort of freaking me out!

I don't eat to the point of feeling sick or uncomfortable, just a normal full feeling, so I don't think I've stretched my stomach or anything. Have I just reached the point people talk about when the sleeve "relaxes?" I'm scared of losing restriction, everything's been going so well! I've been exercising quite a bit, making healthy food choices and eating Protein first, etc. but I am also suddenly much more tired and CRAVING things like mad, not sweets or sugar (well, sometimes) but more like oatmeal and veggies and "good carbs" but lots more carbs than I had been eating. Which is okay I guess, but I haven't had the cravings before and am thrown off by the changes! I was eating 800-1000 calories per day and about 60 grams of carbs, and losing regularly. Now with this hunger/craving thing I am eating more like 1100-1200 calories per day and 80-90 carbs per day. I am only 18 pounds from goal and don't want to slow down losing but also don't want to feel deprived and crabby all the time!

Anyone else's experience or input would be really appreciated, did this happen to you and is it normal??

I too just passed the 8 month mark and am SO tired...I can eat a little more than I used to, but it's not a big difference..I am interested in other's responses!! As for the tired thing...it's especially bad after I eat..I really want to sleep after eating.

I'm 8 1/2 months out. My craving are much worse since I slacked the reins at Christmas time. I am not more tired. Is your Iron good? Or do you eat a carby meal? That used to make me tired, but I can't stomach much bread, rice, potatoes, or Pasta, so I don't eat many carb heavy meals. The most carby thing I eat on plan is Beans. I sometimes have a cup of Beans for dinner and I notice I am hungrier after eating them, but not more tired.

I can now eat a cup of greek yogurt and one slice of toast for breakfast. That's about what I hoped for in restriction. I don't want to be stuck eating 6 meals a day to get my Protein in. For dinner, I can eat 3 oz. of dense Protein, a little bit of veggies, and a bite or two of a starch. For lunch, I often have 2 oz. of lunch meat, an ounce of cheese, a handful of whole grain crackers and a little fruit, such as a little cutie or 1/4 of an apple.

Ugh, me too! Seems especially strange because I had super high energy at 6 months, now I'm dragging. I would have thought being able to eat a bit more and get in some extra fruits and veggies would increase energy, not decrease.

Hi Lynda - I've wondered about my Iron, I take about a supplement of 30 mg a day. I had some bloodwork done in December and nothing looked abnormal. It is true that I crave carbs more when I eat them, but I thought incorporating a piece of toast or a tiny bit of Pasta (I bought super healthy, sprouted grain Ezekiel brand products for both) here or there might help with energy.

Just to clarify, when you say you can eat a cup of yogurt and piece of toast, do you mean 8 oz. of yogurt, or a cup as in the cup in comes in, which is usually 6? Just curious. Thanks for the input, it's nice to compare with someone else...

I noticed that you said that you have increased your exercise. This could lead to you being more hungry for carbs as you need some to burn for exercise. As for being tired, I would check on the Iron, also have you been taking a b-12? We all should be taking b-12 after the surgery, and dont forget the daily Vitamin. Alot of Vitamins do not include iron (especially gummys-due to the chances of overdose for children) so make sure you are getting it somehow.

Hope you all feel better! good luck!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
