  • nbjen - I can't remember if you have Dr. Oh or not. I had my nutrition class today and then I went to Vitalady for my Vitamins and Protein drink. I really was not all that excited about the protein.

Hi all, this is somewhat off topic but I thought you guys could help!

My work is changing insurance companies and I'll have to switch primary doctors. I live in the north Kent area. I'll be self-pay for my band (hopefully will be done in the next month!) since neither my current or the future insurance company cover it, but I want to get a primary care doctor that understands the band... Is there anyone in the Renton/Kent area that can recommend a primary doctor? One by/near Valley Medical would be perfect.

Not sure if you found someone but in Issaquah, Dr. Lehman-Taylor has referred quite a few patients. She believes in the procedure and is very supportive, and covered by most insurances. Her number is 425 391 0705. She is a primary care physician.

Hey, Michelle-

How did you go about working with the Lap Band manufacturer lawyers to get it covered? Mine will be covered by insurance but one of my best friend's insurance says they do not cover it at all... I'd love to be able to point her in the right direction to fight it.

:huggie: thanks

Susan

Lucygirl here, Everett, Wa. waiting for approval from the Cardiologist and United Heatlth care. going thru Puget Sound Surgical Center Dr. Billing. Anyone have and experience with PSSC? ant suggestions/ideas for someone still not decided if I should band? Also I see soem of you were banded in Mexico....why? cheaper??

Hello all, I am here in Bonney Lake, and will have surgery on 3/22/07 in Mexico. I have chosen Dr Aceves. So far all interactions have been great. My husband is going for it too. So definetly I will post after that experience. Hers a question...What has the census been about protien shakes and extra vitamins. Is that a definate recommendation or just suggested by doctors?

If you don't know a great people to meet pre bandsters, post bandsters, surgeons, dieticians etc is at the annual Seattle Bash and Conference. This year we anticipate 300 registrants with 18 Surgeons and other professionals from the PNW to Mexico.

Look at http://barbooch2.homestead.com/SeattleBandsterSplash.html

for further details. Then join the chat group for further info about chatty issues. Look forward to meeting you all. Joanne in Seattle

I did hear about the bash, however we cannot afford to buy the tickets. Is there any guest lists I could possibly get on??? The doctor from Mexico that is speaking is the doctor I am going to.

Thanks for the info.

Just a few additional pieces of info.

Allergan-the maker of the band will be at the bash so you can see different types of band and talk with their rep about concerns or questions.

In addition to docs etc, there will be a wa. attorney who specializes in weight loss surgery and how to get it covered.

I believe she is banded herself.

Hi,

I'm new here too and in my research phase for the band.... I'm in King County and went to a seminar by Dr Fox, I think I'm going to call and make my pre-surgery appointment. I'll be self pay so I still have to look into financing. I love these boards!

Come to the Seattle Bash and Conference this weekend and meet over 200 patients and at leat a dozen docs. Ask the questions you always wanted to ask , Three dozen lectures, raffles, auction, fashion show. Registration availabe at the door.

Hi,

I'm Kim and had my band done on 2/15 by Dr. Neal in Shelton WA. AWESOME surgeon - was considering the Mexico thing but I was too scared. Am actually glad I did it here in WA - I've talked with my doc twice now since the surgery and he's reassuring that things are as they should be. Go in for my first follow up on the 21st.

Sure wish I could get rid of this gas - have done the walking, gas-x and peppermint tea. I guess it will work it's way out.

Anyway - great to here from some other locals

Did either of you do research on Dr Earl Fox? If you did why did you go with someone else?

o2bthin - who is going to do your follow up care here in the NW after surgery?

I thought about Mexico too but I'm too nervous about flying right after surgery.
