I think you've got it now. I hopefully only have another couple weeks until I get my surgery date.

I highly suggest Dr. Montgomery in Everett Wa. I had my surgery at northwest weight loss surgery this december and I have lost 55 pounds since then. The support and aftercare that they provide are amazing and the aftercare you get with your surgery is just as important or even more important than the surgery itself. Good luck!

Wish me luck...I'm starting a 5 day carb-craving breaker tomorrow. Back to liquids...then protiens...

I'm craving carbs so bad, and I feel so much better if I just leave the sugar alone, so I'm going to do this pouch diet to get my pouch and my cravings in order!

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

I'm kind-of looking forward to my chocolate protien shakes...yum! (we'll see if I'm still saying that in 48 hours LOL !!!)

Wow, Sue -- good luck on your pouch test. I'm sure it'll feel great to break out of the sugar cravings and get back to eating Protein & produce afterwards.

You are doing so great -- over 100 lbs lost in less than a year, that's terrific!

Hi Sue,

Good luck, we will be thinking of you. Hope to see you at Gig Harbor meeting on Thursday. You have done so awesome, you will get back on track. Just keep that mental picture of where you were pre-band and where you intend to stay post band.

Hey Suzanne!!!

Great to hear from you!

Thanks for the encouragement. I can't believe I did liquids for 7 weeks! Yesterday wasn't too bad, today...all I can think about is food. I do feel the decreases of carb craving, I'm still craving nuts (salty & crunchy), but I know that's the head hunger...I just want to munch. I've already layed out my tuna and cottage cheese for tomorrow...I can't wait. And I'm drooling justs thinking about the Choco/peanutbutter protien shake I've got planned for tonight...yum!

I should be able to make it on Thursday...but who knows what all will happen between now & then...the life of a mom!?!

Sue,

Seven weeks, WOW! Now that is total comittment to your band and to what you really want to accomplish. That must have been difficult but you did it. You have been an inspiration to me since I first met you at the Gig Harbor meeting. Seeing what can be accomplished if we want it bad enough is a real enforcer. I only hope that if I feel I am really faltering, I can be as committed. I hope all else is going well also. We have missed you at the meeting, but I do remember how busy kids can keep their moms. Kudos to you.

Finally...I got to move my ticker. I've only lost 1# in over 2 months, and have been doing the "bounce" with about 4 #'s since. Hopefully this means I can break through my plateau. I knew things were going to slow down, but I'd still like to loos another 15#'s, that puts me just within "Healthy" on the carts, that's my goal.

Hello, I am new to WA and I am looking for a support group in the Redmond/Seattle area. I called NWWL and they told me that I could not attend the meetings there because I was not a patient of theirs. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

There is an Eastside support group that meets the 4th Thurs of each month.

Join the Yahoo group PNW_bandsters for more info. I've never been to that one as I go to the NWWLS one. PNW_Bandsters is somewhat of a subgroup from SmartBandsters. The idea being that general lapband issues/discussion would go on SmartBandsters and Pacific NW specific topics (like support groups, doctor info, and other gatherings) would be on the PNW_Bandsters list.

Welcome to LBT! I take it you are already banded then, and have just moved to WA?

Thank you for the info. I will try there. Yes I have been banded since 11/06 and I have been at goal weight for almost a year. I am new to WA and support groups are such a HUGE part of my success but I have not been able to find one as of yet. Thanks again.

Hey guys, so happy to see you all..... I had my surgery done at NWWLS a few days ago (May 15th) by Dr. Michaelson. So far it's been a great experience. Looking forward to sharing this exciting journey with you all. :biggrin2:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
