Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

Hello fellow sleevers,

just thought I would start a thread for all those who want to get to goal in 2012, regardless of where we are in the process.

I posted it the 'Slow Loser' thread, because that is what I am!! (I am not complaining by the way, just pleased to be a loser...lol)

For me to get there, I know that at 18mths out I need to be strict, accountable and have support from those in the same 'place', who understand that the sleeve isn't a miracle but a tool.

I have done well so far, but the weight hasn't 'melted' off me and since 6mths post op I have had to fight for each and every pound. At first it made me a little bitter, frustrated and I started to get into a 'dark place' about it, now the scale victory tastes sooooo sweet!

I have taken the month of December 'off'... I needed to rest from the constant worry of food, cals, water, carbs and protein... my head was spinning and I was starting to feel very frustrated and overwhelmed at not being at goal again. I needed time out!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas period and I have eaten what I wanted and when I wanted it; this includes ALL foods, no food was off limit and I let my sleeve do its job! The quantity was low but I still enjoyed every mouthful. Interestingly, I found that my cravings were satisified very quickly... 1 or 2 biscuits/sweets, and so on, hit the spot, instead of 5,6,7,... you get the picture. Subconscious damage limitation? I don't know but I like it!

I have learnt a lot by doing this. I now know that I can eat a little more if I 'try'... I know that I can enjoy food again without feeling guilty and I know that food doesn't have to be the enemy. So, with all that, what was the outcome? Yep, I have gained 2lbs above my personal bounce! Oops!

I am not, in the slightest, worried about this because I KNOW what is the cause... sugar and salt! And this time, I am sure it will come off as quick as it went on!

So, what is the plan?

Per my surgeon's instructions: I am going back to basics... yep that ole one...lol

  • 3 meals a day - no snacking.
  • Weighing my meals between 6-8oz depending on what is on the plate.
  • Protein first, followed by veggies.
  • Plenty of water.
  • A limit of 1000 cals a day.
  • Continue with my exercise - boxing twice a week, gym in work 1-2 times a week (depending on work load) and walking my dog (just over a 2 mile circuit). The exercise is the only thing that I have stuck to in December... I actually enjoy it now!!

As a side note, and I ain't sure if my American friends can get this, but here in the Uk, on SKY there are a few fitness channels. I have recorded some aerobic workouts that are really good... they're free and can be done at home... this is saving me some money on classes and DVDs and if I don't like the workout I can delete and look for another!! Bonus!!

Ok, who is ready to join me on the final stretch to goal... hope on board and enjoy the ride my friends...

Dust it off girls!!

Still chugging along towards goal here :D

4 pounds from goal. I'm still alive and kicking!

YAY glad to see we "revived" this thread! Esp. great for those who are working on getting to goal but not doing the 5:2. Good job Georgia for resuscitating this thread!

I'm clinging to the hope that I WILL achieve goal weight, that I WILL get strong again!

You WILL GT, you WILL!

I just started my new anti-inflammatory regimen 2 days ago, too soon to tell for results, but I am super excited. Every day now I put flaxseed in my protein shake, take a slew of vitamins including B and Omega3, make a superfood probiotic green drink powder concoction, eat about 3 cups of leafy greens and colorful veggies, and eat 1 or 2 servings of sardines or tuna. Plus I'm drinking green tea even though it is DISGUSTING :/ ...

My downfall is the night nibbling, I just can't seem to stop myself, even when I know it is wrong and I feel terrible about myself and don't even want to eat, yet still find myself doing it :( All this new fiber in my diet is also adding carbs so I can't have saltines with my sardines :( And kicking the chocolate habit is really effing difficult and not something I have achieved as of yet :/

One day at a time. Sounds very healthy! You can do it.

Finally down to 145 lbs. Whew! Thought I would never get here....I've missed this thread.....glad to be back...

I will be going towards a lot of stress now, my husband's hours have been cut back now and we are working on moving to Oregon now.....It sure is hard to figure out how to buy our dream property in Oregon and trying to sell our house at the same time. We need to get our house painted and a few things fixed too. Plus the last few days I have been eating a lot of food even when now hungry but still losing a bit.... :P

Great to see this thread again - can't believe how old it is! At one point I gave myself a year and then I said I would stop 'beating myself up'! Nah, I am way toooo determined to do that!

Just 5-6lbs away from my surgeon's goal and I know I can do it now!

Still enjoying Curves and back at the boxing gym too - been twice and no issues. I moderate the stomach exercises since I'm only 6 1/2 mths post TT and will increase the intensity as I feel I can, but no rush.

Was measured in Curves today and in the last 5 weeks (since returning from my hols) I've lost 2 inches from my hips and over 2 inches from my waist just over an inch from under the bust! Loving that!

I also asked her opinion on getting to my personal goal of 138 and she thought it would be too low for me - said to shoot for another 7lbs and re-evaluate then! So, that is what I am going to do.

I'm also thinking that I am losing inches rather than poundage, so I will change my size goal. I am a UK 12/14 now so my new goal will be a comfortable 12 and then some 10s! Imagine that, me in a size UK 10!

BRING IT ON!

GT... good to see you back! Sounds like you are feeling positive and focused! Loving that! We can do this together... xx

Coops! 7 pounds... You can sooo do this! You are so close! a 10 would be just FINE wouldn't it!? Inches are so much better than pounds, I know we are stuck on the scale, but how you look is where its at...(and how you feel of course!)

I have so much crap too! I've lived in this house for 23 years. I can't get over everything we have to do to prepare for the sale. :P

The good news is, I am not very fond of quest bars anymore. they are starting make me nauseous. I met with my case manager at kaiser and she sent me an after care plan for me. I am going to have to pull it up and check it out.... ;P I will post it later for everyone if your interest. :P
