3rd Day Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery -up 10 Lbs

I was sleeved on Monday 12-19-11. I just got home today 12-21-11. I have gained 10 lbs. The doc said it might just be water weight gain because of surgery. Anyone else have this happen?

yes! when I went home 2 days after surgery I came home 7lbs MORE then I was the morning of surgery!! Its from all the fluids. For me it did come off quickly...within 2 weeks I was down 10lbs from surgery day. (so 17 including those 7 extra...)

Don't worry....totally normal!

yep same here. I went up 5 pounds, but it was gone in a matter of a few days. :) no worries!

Totally normal! You will lose that weight in a few days. It is just Water weight from the IVs and meds given during surgery.

Good luck!! :)

Good to know. I just got home and gained five pounds also, What a strange feeling to lose a part of your body...and then weigh more. I really hope that the weight will come off. Sigh. So nervous about the surgery not working.

Grateful for this forum!

Thanks all!

I had gained 14 lbs while I was still in the hospital, and it all came off and then some really quickly. It's totally water weight and nothing to worry about.

This morning I finally got back to my pre-op weight of 221. NOW I can start losing for real.
