  1. Any one have their procedure at abington hospital in PA? If so, would you mind sharing your experience? Which doctor, any complications, post-op care etc. Thanks for the feedback. We are considering Dr. Bonnani and Dr. G.
  2. My cycle was restored to precisely 28 days. Then I went a few months with 30 day cycles. All in all the surgery has improved my ability to menstruate and ovulate regularly. (An ultrasound in June indicated that I had ovulated on my own.) I am still not pregnant but I am undergoing a frozen embryo transfer. My weight loss was stalled due to a failed IVF attempt in June. ( I wasn't allowed to exercise or reduce my calories any further for 8 weeks which brought my metabolic process to a halt.) Since I didn't get pregnant I definitely regret it. It is painful to see those little embryos and then they don't survive. Well, that's my update. I know I used to be on this thing like glue for answers and I hope to be able to provide a positive on for you!
  3. Only lost 20 lbs. So much for that 50 lb goal. Sigh.
  4. Hello all, Just a quick update on my progress. I have lost a total of 56.8 lbs. (This includes 15 pre-op lbs using metformin.) I am no longer taking metformin and trying to regulate my blood sugar on my own. I am a little over 3 months post-op. I have noticed an increase in the amount of egg white cervical mucus each month. Prior to the surgery, I rarely had any even though my periods had become regular. Two months after the surgery I noticed that my cycle shifted by one week making it a 35 day cycle but since there is an increase in EWCM, I am guessing/hoping that my fertility is increasing somewhat. Initially, I wanted to try to have a baby right away after the surgery but now I think its best to wait the 12- 18 months. I am not eager to put 50 lbs back on and/or have thre restoration of the pain I was experiencing in my back. I also realize that the baby should have the healthiest environment possible. The healthy and stronger I am, the healthier and stronger the baby will be! Anyone else notice any improvements physically? Don't forget to post when you get your BFP! GOD BLESS! BABY DUST!
  5. Slacked off last month but I made it to 195! One-derland! Hooray! Only 45.8 lbs to go!
  6. My goal will be 190lbs!
  7. Hello, I am having the sleeve done as a cure for my pcos and infertility. I am wondering if anyone has had the surgery for this purpose and been successful. (Unable to have children before the sleeve, able to have children afterward.) Thanks. Efamcan
  8. Hello, My husband and I are considering the sleeve on the same day. We will have different surgeons because I don't have time to meet with the more experienced one. My Doctor, Dr. G. is supposed to be very good as well. Have any couples done this surgery together in the same week and month? My friends are concerned that I will wind up taking care of my husband instead of myself. I am hoping it will give us the willpower to eat the right foods at the right times. (It helps if you know someone else is stuck on popsicles and pudding pops too!) If you have, please post your experience. If not, do you think this is a good idea? Also, I'm getting a little nervous I just want everything to be okay! Thanks for posting! Efamcan!
  9. Sounds great! My weight is 214.4 - I'm a new sleever so I'm not sure what is a realistic goal. April 13th goal would be...50lbs? That would be amazing though. I'll think on it but I'm definitely up for a challenge!
  10. Anyone get to goal in 6 months? If so, any tips, hints or suggestions?
  11. The water tip is a good point. It's been very hard to get down! I hear that staying hydrated is good for your skin.
  12. I agree that exercise is important. I am excited to begin in two weeks when I am allowed. I appreciate the commentaries on not rushing. I've been struggling with infertility and I am fearful of waiting to long. There are a lot of issues surrounding my desire to lose the weight in six months. Put simply 6 months to weight loss + 6 months of maintenance =Dr.'s clearance to start trying sooner rather than later. However, I see your point and will keep praying about it. Besides, I can't make myself get pregnant regardless of the weight loss (whether the surgery cured my pcos or not will be determined after the 6 month point...like I said a lot of factors) but I do need to lose weight in order to be healthy and have a healthy pregnancy. I'm encouraged that its possible and I will try for it but if it doesn't happen, I hope to be as close to goal as possible. Sasicas - Thanks for telling me about the weight goal. My family tells me that I have a small frame but I don't see it. I'll see where the sleeve journey takes me.

    The Scale Stopped Moving

RickM- Thanks for the article. Sad but encouraging at the same time. I am also in my third week and haven't seen the scale move in 3 days. I was so excited to get down a good amount the first month. Boo! Oh well, I will just focus on getting my protein in and call it a day until I am allowed to exercise.
  14. Shanny, We have very similiar start and target weights. Any strategies you would like to share? Did you lose a consistent 20 lbs each month or did it fluctuate? I lost 20 lbs in 14 days but haven't lost any weight in 3 days. I hope that's ok. A little nervous because I can't go to the gym for another two weeks. I don't want to have a stall and stop losing! 6 months to goal is my goal. I hope I can do it. Efamcan

    Pcos Resolution Post- Surgery?

That is fantastic news! Congratulations. I will be praying for a healthy and happy pregnancy for you! Thank you for posting. This is very encouraging.
  16. This is really encouraging. You have all done such an amazing job! Any tips or suggestions. I need to get to goal in six months . I need to get out of ketosis as soon as possible so that my husband and I can start trying for a baby - not getting any younger!!! I am hoping that I can do this by my 30th birthday. June 28th! That's exactly one week past my 6 month surgiversary. My doctor's goal for me is 135 but my personal goal is 150. Perhaps I should reset my goal? I set it a little heavier because I don't want to be too thin. That will negatively affect my fertility as well. Honestly, its also because I can't imagine myself that small - it sounds impossible! Anyone feel that way about there goal weight? If so, did that feeling change when you got there? Thanks for posting!

    New To This

I am 11 days out and I think its a great idea if you are trying to get healthy. It's a major lifestyle change. Try Atkins for a while or any low carb diet and see how you feel about it. The pre-op diet is very similar.
  18. Can someone describe what dumping feels like? I have been having a hard time eating certain things and I am wondering if that could be it. I didn't know you could have dumping with this surgery. Thanks.
  19. Help. I am suffering. Vomit, pain, nausea. following directions. Trying to walk more throwing up. is making that hard. Hard to swallow tylenol. Sick. Suffering. Normal? Help.
  20. Found out I wasn't taking the Pepcid and Anti-Nausea meds in the right sequence. Feeling better. Thanks.
  21. Good to know. I just got home and gained five pounds also, What a strange feeling to lose a part of your body...and then weigh more. I really hope that the weight will come off. Sigh. So nervous about the surgery not working. Grateful for this forum!
  22. My surgery is today too! Good luck. I will be praying for you!
  23. My surgery is 12/22 at 11:15 am . Whew! I have been a roller coaster of emotions. I am so afraid that I won't lose any weight because I am realizing that the program I am in doesn't provide a lot of nutritional support! So scared. Hope my fears are unfounded! Hope I'll be posting huge losses.
