What's For Breakfast

Recommended Posts

i am tired of eating eggs for Breakfast. I do not get a lot of protien for breakfast. I typically have scramled eggs, or egg and cheese omelette. I've done the breakfast quiche, the egg and sausage wrap. I am tired of eggs for breakfast Protein. Please help with protien packed suggestions for breakfast. I've tried putting Isolate Protien supplement in my oatmeal ( I love oatmeal) that turned into a solid mass of mush in minutes I couldn't stand the sight of it. Help!! FYI. I am 5 weeks out and on soft foods

Anything you can eat at any time of the day is okay for breakfast. I'm not big on breakfast until around 11 am, so I get the choice of breakfast or lunch anyway. If you like them, Protein bars are an easy and different substitute for the breakfast meal. I sometimes eat a mini babybel cheese or a rolled up slice of meat/cheese at "breakfast time" because I have to have something in my tummy before I take my meds.

Egg Face has tons of ideas on her blog for yummy things to do with eggs and with Protein shakes. You might visit her and just go through the recipe section for ideas.

Good luck! It does seem easy to get in a rut with food, especially when you're still on mushies.

I have struggled with breakfast for awhile because couldn't tolerate eggs at all. I was hung up on the whole "breakfast food" stereotype. You can eat anything for breakfast. I have eaten leftovers for breakfast before. Anything you would have at lunch or dinner you can also have at breakfast time, don't worry about it being classified as "breakfast food". What about Beans? Yogurt, cottage cheese, Soup, tuna salad, egg salad or even chicken salad perhaps.

cheese slice, tuna salad, egg salad (if you're over the "gotta scramble my eggs" thing) or a deviled egg, yogurt, and for us die-hard Mexican food lovers--refried Beans with cheese melted over--YUM. I might be daring and add a spoon of sour cream, too!

cottage cheese or greek yogurt...shortly you can add Kashi go lean Cereal with milk... the cereal has 14 gms of Protein +whats in the milk, and tastes good!

I also bake things with Bobs Red Mill low carb baking mix... I had chocolate donuts with almond butter for breakfast today...Check eggface for great low carb high protein baked recipes.< /p>

Hey, Browndoesall....you can put Protein in your oatmeal, you just have to add it after you cook it and it cools off a bit. If you add Protein to anything over 130 degrees, or try to put it in prior to cooking it, it will solidify into an icky mass ohmy.png I learned the hard way when I tried to add powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken protein to a cup of hot Water, then nuke it in the microwave....wow, what a gross explosion!

So now, I will nuke my oatmeal with Water and/or oatmeal, stir it, let it cool for a little bit, or add a dash of cold milk to cool it down, then put in a scoop of unflavored protein. I also love oatmeal!!

I dont like eggs either. I dont have time to cook in the morning so I have tried a bagel thin with peanut butter.. I and only eat about a forth of one and usually do this before a workout in the morning. I also love cheddar cheese and will buy the block, cut off an ounce in slices, usually about three, and eat it with a saltine cracker or two. Its7 grams of Protein for the cheese. That has turned out to be a lifesaver for me. I have the unflavored protein but I have not been able to find anything that tastes ok using it. HTH

I'll admit - most mornings I have some kind of eggs for breakfast. I really watch carbs, so it's hard to come up with much else, but I do like microwave Protein "cake" - The World According to Eggface has a lot of variations:

http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2010/04/that-takes-cake.html

Her recipes make 4 servings for me at this stage, so I only have to take the time to make it once a week. For leftovers I usually pop a slice in the toaster, maybe top with cream cheese or something. Right now I'm loving the pumpkin spice one, topped with a little pumpkin cream cheese from Trader Joes - yum!

Do you like pancakes? The Big Train mix is great! Again, I find they do fine as leftovers, just popped in the toaster to reheat.

Kathy, Most people aren't overly fond of Protein shakes by the time they get to solid foods after surgery. You may not WANT to sub a meal with a Protein shake. My nut wants us getting most of our Protein from food by the time we're into regular foods, but I can't see the harm in having a Protein Shake for breakfast if you want.

Someone mentioned Egg Face and she makes tons of yummy looking Protein Shakes that she uses for breakfast and she's 5 years post op RNY.

My favorite Breakfast these days is a lox bagel.

I use half of a Thomas' whole wheat bagel thin, toast it up and spread with reduced fat cream cheese, and top with about 1 oz. of smoked salmon and a slice of cheddar.

My Fitness Pal configues it to be 177 calories, 15g Protein and 14 carbs (less if you subtract Fiber grams like I do). I find it very satisfying and the half bagel is the perfect amount of bread for my sleeve.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
