Gastric Sleeved With Pcos.

Recommended Posts

I am still waiting on my surgery date and I have been wondering of the people who have been sleeved and who have Poly cystic ovarian syndrome if losing their weight has been harder than most or slower than expected? I have had issues with the losing weight due to this and don’t want to set myself up thinking I will be like most every one when really it isn’t true due to the PCOS. I guess I am afraid that this sleeve will not work for me like so many other “food plans” haven’t. Please reply if you have PCOS Thank you so much.

I have PCOS and my weight loss has been slow. I have not exercised as much as I should though, which is part of it I'm sure. I haven't had my hormones checked but am curious if my LH:FSH ratio is improved...guessing it is.

I have PCOS an I am 13 days out and my weight loss so far ( still VERY early ) has been wonderful :) 28 lbs gone and I will start working out as soon as my Dr give me the OK to start. I off my metformin since my surgery and I am doing good without my insulin meds :) I think having PCOS won't stop you for losing weight as others :) and your symptoms will improve as you keep eating healthy and exercising

I have PCOS. I was sleeved august 26th and have only lost 40 lbs. It's been extremely slow and it upsets me. I'm just praying that as I lose my hormones will normalize and I will pick up the weight loss speed....

HI ! I am scheduled for surgery 2/7 so in a about a week and a half. I am debating on changing my surgery to having the RY (Gastric Bypass) because I am worried that I will not be happy with the results. I have severe PCOS, with insulin resistance that is crazy bad I take metformin and 100u of lantis insulin and about 30-60 u of novolog insulin a day. I have tried every weight loss program out there and lose a few pounds nothing substantial and then i stop losing and stay at my weight. I also have mild bi-polar disorder which could be caused by the pcos, diabetic neuropathy, and bulging disk in my back. I wonder if there is anyone out there who has had the surgery who was severely diabetic (Insulin Resistant) and how your weight loss is going because I heard that the Bypass is more promising for PCOS people.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
