Did Anyone Not Have Any Issues After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

I want to start by saying fisrt of all that I am very grateful for what I am about to report. I had my Surgery on 11/21/11, so I am 4 Days Pot-op. I have not had any nausea or heartburn. I have had a little gas (burps) but that is it. Yesterday was my first day home from the hospital and I was able to sip sip sip on about 45 oz of Water all day and I got in 69 grams of Protein with proetin shakes. I have just read over and over again that is is really hard when first out of surgery to get your requirements in. Although today an will aim to drink more water, I was just wondering how many others there are out there like me who didn't have any problems. Do I have anything to be worried about? I did follow the pre-op diet to a "T" and didn't cheat once! So I am attributting it to that and a positive attitude. Like I said I am thankful, and excited to officially begin my journey.

  • Lol I just posted something similar. I had surgery on the 16th and "only" had a bad episode of nausea/heaving etc for 45 minutes at the hospital. After that it has been easy peasy. On my 6th day post

I was sleeved October 31st and thank the good Lord I had no issues to date with my recovery! Happy Thanksgiving everyone and yes it is great to not overeat this holiday!

I was sleeved on Oct 25th and I have had nausea and vomiting problems. Some days are good, some days aren't. My sleeve doesn't tolerate any meat well. I have had lots of days with excess slime and I vomit. My vitamins nauseate me.....I don't get enough protein as the shakes nauseate me now too. I do get plenty of fluids. Each day is a challenge! I am praying each day gets better!

Try to get in the proteins Saint. I hear if you don't you could have issues with hair loss and nail problems.

I have been blessed with no issues throughout my journey. I was able to get my liquids and protein in from early on, I've never vomited, got the slimes or had any other undesirable issue. I've also eaten a bit more than most sleevers from the very beginning (I could eat a 1/2 cup of food from early on). As evidenced by my weightloss, none of this has slowed me down. Best of luck to all of you! :)

I am one week out and still walking around with a drain. I had to receive a pint of blood while in the hospital one day after surgery. I'm a bleeder, I guess. However, I have little pain, gas for about 2 days and am sucking down water and protein all day. I started vitamin shots today which have helped my energy. Small obstacles but they do exist.

Physically I had a very easy post-op. Other than having to try a few options to get my reflux under control, I recovered quickly and was back to work within 5 days with only minimal fatigue and little to no pain or discomfort. I chalk up my quick recovery to my focus on walking, walking, walking - and getting in my Protein and fluids right away and consistently.

Emotionally I had a few "woe is me" moments in the first few weeks, but as soon as I was past the full liquids/purees phase, any of those emotional issues resolved quickly.

Good luck to you on your journey!
