Tomorrow is 4 months and I don't care if I ever lose another pound

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is my four-month anniversary and while I plan on losing more weight, I'm perfectly happy where I am. I can't believe the change in only 4 months! Here's the thing: My husband and friends are telling me to slow down on the weight loss. I still have 25 pounds to goal, but they are telling me I'm fine where I am. I'm large boned (really) so I don't really know where to be. I do know that my face looks better when I have a little extra weight. I feel great and my BP is now low/normal. Goodness! How do I know where to stop?

You look great!! Healthy!!

To answer your question: Only you know that answer. No one here, and no one else can tell you what is right for your body. I'm stopping short of the (IMO - not for me) BMI charts. I'm fine, I'm healthy and I'm happy. I won't live my life being unhappy anymore - and losing 20 more Lbs or whatever isn't going to do that. I MYSELF make the rules on my happiness... not some red, yellow and green chart some guy made a decade ago. I'll leave that to Bell Peppers... yeah, I like those.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Well said! Thanks for the advice. I'm short of the BMI charts too and that is where the confusion comes in. I may just ignore the charts.

I think you look fantastic. It's only been 4 months since you had your surgery??? WOW!!! Also, I second LilMissDiva's comments. You really do look healthy and happy. You should set your own weight loss goal and not let it be dictated to you. You've done an amazing job so far!

Congratulations,

Niki

Thank you for your kind words. I've decided to lose another 20 pounds (I think). I'll still be just above the BMI charts, but I believe those are flawed anyway.

Yes, It had only been 4 months when I posted those pics. I love the sleeve. It has changed my life forever.

First off, congratulations on your success!

I just posted about this same exact issue and I've decided to ask myself some questions:

Am I comfortable with me? (thanks to everyone for helping me with this!)

1) size wise: yes

2) weight wise: no

3) body visual: no

4) health numbers: almost

5) eating habits: almost - I still see where I can easily "fall off the wagon"

As you see, I only answered yes to one of 5 and that answered my question. Are you comfortable with where you are? Only you know this, not hubby, not friends, and not family, just you.

Good luck and congratulations again. :)

Wow, congrats! You look great in these pictures. I made my goal weight higher than what I could have, honestly just because I have no idea what I will look like at that weight. I am going to reassess then. Best of luck to you.

Your Doctor didn't do a body composition for you? There is a special scale that can tell you how much of your weight is bone mass/water/things you shouldn't loose and how much more is fat. Then you calculate from there how much actual fat you have to loose before you are in a healthy/normal range for your height and weight. Hope that little information helps!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
