Hey JUDE048!

LOL Jude! That's totally what I thought with my "Argon's Activities" thread! Now when I feel the need to blab about something non specific, there it goes!

It looks like you're having about the same amount of fun eating as I have! For lunch today I had 4 shrimps! Wooooo! Ok, I chewed and spit out the last one! Hopefully you'll get the benefit of some good losing for all this suffering we're doing!

That's great that you're getting some extra help with your mom. My mom has kind of the same thing. Luckily now, she's about to get some one to come in 5 days a week for about 3 hours at a time. It's funny that they limit the amount of hours she's "allowed" to have help, but make her pay for it (well, she pays half, and some government program subsidizes the rest). I actually wrote a letter to her 'case worker' and begged for her to get more help, because I was leaving and was worried about her being alone so much. I guess it worked, cause she got it... and never told my mom that I asked, which is good, cause I didn't want to embarass her.

I think everyone who wants it should start their own thread, for their own ramblings and daily goins-on.. . Like "Cloe's Conundrums", or "Yoda's Yodels", or .... "Kim's Kinkiness"... "Devana's Debauchery" ... "Loriely's Liasons" ... "Wheezy's Whispers" LOL

Oh... the fun we could have!

Kims Kinkiness?? lol, you know me well! I am happy to read others stuff and can add my two cents whenever. Mostly though, it is soo nice to have a support system here and then see how everyone else is doing.

Well we were all guessing as to why they were training people at the clinic and it seems that it is official that Marie is leaving. There is big discussion on the Coburn/Mumford site. Apparently it is for a job in an OR at a hopsital that has better benefits.

Anyway her last day is supposed to be Sept 1. What a shock - she has always been soooooo suportive and soooooo caring! She will be sorely missed. And I don't know how she kept up with the hours that she worked!

Just thought I would let everyone know!

Good Idea for everyone to get their own thread for rambling!!!

Mandi,

This lady who comes in on Weds - I have to pay for also. I pay for half of her wages and the gov't pays the other half. My mom actually was nice to her and they "got on" quite well. She is an early 60ish woman and they hit it off well. Last time we did this - we went through 4 different workers in 5 weeks!

The one who comes on Thursday is a PSW through VON and it does not cost me anything.

The gov't seems to be trying hard to help keep people at home where it is less costly to care for them than in nursing facilities. Which is good in our case.

Hey Guys,

Well another chapter in the life of.............................

Had to take my mom by ambulance in to the hospital again at 3:00 am this morning. I have a baby monitor in her room and a "different than usual" sound woke me up in the night. I found her in a very distressed state. We sent her to the hospital and they admitted her. They are doing xrays to see if her blood loss is coming from her stomach or her lungs. They discussed giving her a blood transfusion but she has a DNR order, a Death with Dignity doctor's letter and a No undue measures to prolong life directive - so they did not do the transfusion.

The doc says this might be nearing the end. She finally consented to taking morphine and for the first time in many months she is pain free at last. WOOPPEEE!!!! He is afraid that she has an infection in the lungs brought on by the cracked ribs from the fall 2 weeks ago and is giving her 2 different antibiotics for that. They are giving her pantaloc to reduce acids in the stomach in case that is where she is bleeding.

So she is higher than a kite - talking about going dancing and having a few drinks with her friends and what a cheap drunk she is!!!!!! Grins!! Gotta find the humour or you would just start to cry!!!!

I will have to wait out the next few days and see what happens and if there is any improvement. He said she could end up staying there in chronic care or perhaps it will be time to think nursing home.

Anyway, just thought that I would let "my friends and support group" here know what is going on and I may not be posting much for a while!

take care everyone.

PS: The ticker is a lie!

(((((hugz)))))))

Hey Jude....really sorry to hear about your mom's situation; I understand it must be very difficult on you. I agree with Cloe though; your mom is so fortunate to have you for a daughter and care giver; not every child would do that....heck, not every child is capable of that. I'm not sure I ever would be.

Just know that our thoughts are with you and your mom.....take care and do what you need to do....we'll be here when you get a chance to come back.

Hi guys!

Well today is day 11 with my mom in hospital. My sister and I have both been there day and night. Just coming home for a couple of hours, shower and change clothes and go back. Finally today we decided that we would trade off and not both be there at the same time.

I went in this am early and I am now home and my sister is staying till whenever. They have put her in a nice palliative care suite which is a private room and it has a sofa so that one of us can sleep there and stay over. One of us has been sleeping a bit and the other sitting by her bed sitting vigil. However, it is starting to take it's toll - at least on me.

She is not eating, sipping tea and Water. They are giving her morphine, haldol and lorazipam to make her comfortable. I have no idea how or where she is getting the strength to hang on but she is somehow!!!

Since having my fill on the 23rd of August - I have not been able to eat anything since I ate the salad that Marie chose for me over at Moma Rosa's. I am even having trouble with Soup. Can not eat cottage cheese, can not eat Beans, can't eat salad, - and have trouble with Soup and even pudding. I have been sipping Water and coffee and some soup and a little Protein shake (not much - hard to do at the hospital).

I am in agony - I feel like I am "stuck" all the time. Going to toronto is just absolutely out the question - I can not, will not leave my mom - so I am just trying to get through it. Just had about 3 tablespoons of soup and am sitting here sliming into kleenex and taking huge breaths to try to make it feel "unstuck".................

The worst part is - I have still not lost that 7 lbs that I put on when I bumped my calorie intake up to 1200 on Marie's advice!!!!!!!!!

I was not able to get the call in to the florists to put in for Marie's flowers, nor did I find a chance to email her and wish her well and I feel badly about that. Hope you guys did!!!

So, despite not being able to eat anything, the ticker is still a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jude, God girl, I have never met anyone with so much on their plate and

the fact you are still standing...unbelievable! You have to drink

something more than what you are at least or you wil be dehydrated and then

getting through the next little while will take more of a toll on you.

You are in my thoughts. Kim

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
