Sleeve is not cooperating today

Recommended Posts

I got up this morning and tried to have my regular Protein shake and after one three sips "sleevie wonder" said NO! I tried a smoothie made with fruit and Water and it didn't taste good either. I made some Ginger Peach tea and was able to sip that just fine. I had some yogurt mid-morning and it sat just fine.

Anyone else have this happen? (I've been on a stall for about a week, so I have been trying to up my Protein intake but this isn't starting off so well.)

Yes, my sleeve can get picky even 8 monhs out. For example, deli turkey is fine 95% of the time, and then I'll have it and it just doesn't sit well. Since I still eat slowly I stop when I get that icky feeling, put whatever it is away, and try something else. I have a couple "tried and true" food items that are high in Protein that I can always turn to if it's a picky day.

Right there with ya. My sleeve is also picky at 4.5 months out. Like Foxbins, I have a few tried and true foods that I can go to--for instance, I keep a can of almonds in my car, a Protein Bar in my favorite flavor in my purse, and Soup in the cupboard--if nothing else is "working," I usually chill for a while and then try one of those standards. I also find that when my sleeve is being especially picky, I'm probably dehydrated--if I get some Gatorade and cut it half and half with Water and sip that for a while, it helps get things settled down.

Oooh the dehydration could be a factor. Between the head cold, the Nyquil, and an experiment with the blender and a Decaf coffee smoothie last night I may have needed some fluids. I had some applesauce, some watermelon, and some yogurt today so I think things settled down later in the morning.

The GREAT news is that I finally get it! I made a variation of Eggface's ricotta bake for dinner and put two tablespoons on my plate. I was thinking a tablespoon would be about an ounce. I ate half of what was on my plate and I got that "don't eat another bite" feeling. I used to have a problem with binging so I really had to think about not putting the next bite in my mouth. My brain said "do it" and my stomach said "don't you dare". I cleared my plate and have been fine ever since!

I am gonna count this as an NSV. It was the first time that I really felt like I was having a normal meal since the pre-op diet. I can see light at the end of the tunnel and it is SO great!

(I have a 2 year old and so I use the same plates and silverware that she does. It helps me feel like I am having a "right size" portion. LOL!)

This board ROCKS!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
