Weight Loss Slowing Down! However, down 108 lbs

Recommended Posts

I had my sugery November 2010. I'm down 108 lbs now and my weight loss is slowing way down. I have 58-60 more lbs to go. I find that my hunger is starting to come back, (in my head) boo on that...

What are some tips you can give me to jump start this weight loss again... I know some things I'm doing wrong are not getting enough fluids each day. Why is it so stinking hard to get all my Water in each day!!! anyone else struggle with this.

Who else around a year out is having weight loss slowing down? What are you doing to speed it back up?

Thanks in advance.

Brandi

Hi brandi, unfortunately this happens. . .all i can say is try the 5 day pouch test (google it and it brings it up) to kickstart your weight loss again and after that go back to basics. . . i'm out 19 months (almost 2 years) and have totally stopped losing weight since January 2011. . .I tetter between 200 - 210 lbs and have surpassed my doctors goal for me which was 212 lbs. . . if i'm to loose more, good for me, if not, good for me, but i KNOW for a fact i will never again weigh 350 lbs! and for that i am grateful! good luck!

Howdy Brandi! You and I were sleeved around the same time. I was worried my loss had stopped. I gained 3 pounds from too many BBQ's, parties, vacation and birthday celebrations. I went back to eating sensible and getting in my fluids and dropped 5 pounds this week! Praise God...FINALLY!

I haven't heard about the pouch test, but plan to check it out. I also thought of going back to my pre-op liquid diet. I am 22 pounds from my final goal. I am excited! Good luck!

Congratulations on your weight loss.

Just keep in mind the surgery alone is only meant to help you lose around 50% of excess weight (weight at surgery - ideal weight). The rest is just changing up metabolism through changing exercise regime and caloric intake.

Good luck on getting the rest of it off.

I had surgery the same time as you. I too, am stuck. I have been in the 170's for 3.5 months now. Up...and down....up....and down. It is driving me insane. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. And watching my intake....but NOTHING. I am beyond frustrated. I thought by doing weights and cardio....it would melt off. Nope. Sick of hearing muscle weighs more than fat. Yes, I see a difference in my clothes but the scale is evil. When I do get to my goal weight...I am taking a sledgehammer to it ;)

Hiya, I am 3 mos post op & have lost on avg 8-10 lbs per month. I had to lose 10% of my highest wt before my insurance would even approve my surgery so total since Aug 2010 (when my MD started tracking my wt) I've dropped about 67 lbs. I have 100 more to go to reach goal. Sometimes my wt stalls for more than a week & the scale doesn't move. It is very frustrating when that happens because I like to see the numbers come down & my biggest fear is that I'll stall for good & that will be all the wt loss for me even though I still have so much wt left to lose. Is anyone else going through this??

Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
