How are you MS ladies doing? I'm in Biloxi, scheduled for surgery on April 9th with Dr. Avara out of Ocean Springs. I see it's been a few months since anyone posted on this thread. Anyone still around?

Hello Fellow MS Sleevers, I live in New Albany, MS and I had my sleeve done on March 5th 2012 by Dr Michael King in Oxford. I can not praise Dr King, his amazing staff and Baptist Hospital in Oxford MS enough! The care, compassion and professionalism shown to me by EVERYONE involved was beyond my expectations! I highly recommend Dr King for anyone looking for a great experience!

I'm hoping to join the club of being sleeved. Still waiting to hear from Dr. Kings office if my insurance has approved me. Was told it usually takes about 2 wks for a response so this is my 2nd week of waiting . The waiting is so aggravating. But patience is a virtue so I am trying my best to be patient. Any suggestions or thoughts on anything else I should do to speed the process? My insurance is UHC so hoping from what I read on here that it wont be much longer.

Thank you for the reply. Good luck and congrats on your sleeve. I can't wait to be at that point. So ready to start a new life --- a healthy one for sure!

Mimi77 I too will be using Dr. King and just from the seminar and having a friend that used him I was impressed with what I have seen.I just wish the insurance company would hurry up and give notice of being approved. Yes I am getting impatient I do believe. Heres to another day of hoping that phone will ring with good news.

Got any suggestions on how to get the insurance coordinator to get the job done? All I have heard is excuses and its been 3 weeks since I thought my request for approval was sent in. Come to find out, it hasnt and all I got was excuses for her being away from work, yadda yadda yadda. Have left numerous voice mails and no replies. My patience is just about to run out. Would appreciate any input on this if you can.

Good luck on yours. Between the girl at the doc's office bumbling and the insurance bumbling, my 1-2 week approval process turned into 16 weeks. That was after my 3 months of supervised visits. If I had not of rode them all like horses, it probably would of never happened. And of course it was ALWAYS someone else's fault. I never got a straight answer from her or the insurance. And to top it all off, I got $25,000 in bills after it was all finished. The insurance refused to pay them, when I had the approval letter. They were demanding payment in full because they only operate with an approval letter. I had to get the insurance on the line, go through three departments and cop an attitude to get it put right. That took two weeks...argh!

Thank you Benisa for that input. I hate to hear that you had such a rough time with them but it also helps me to hear these kind of things. If and when I get to have the surgery, if the insurance goofs up, my husband will handle them. He is my "bulldog" for this kind of stuff and if we were to get a bill like you got, oh lordy I feel for the insurance people that have to deal with him. I left another voicemail yesterday, Wednesday so I am again hoping to hear something "positive" today from Angie. Did you ever speak with the office manager at all during that time? If so did it help? Trying to be patient as possible but if I don't get some results will start looking elsewhere for a new doctor to use.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
