What are some good low carb breakfast options?

Recommended Posts

I'm on week 3 and can have soft foods, soft fruits without the peel, cooked veggie, some meats, cheeses etc...

I have been having 1/2 of a banana the last few days because I just really am not a fan of eggs... I've tried it and I just don't like them. But then I googled the nutrition information for bananas and was shocked at how many carbs it had... I had no idea! ugh.

So what do you eat for Breakfast that is low in carbs?

Found this on Lauras cooking tips. It works for me because im a recovering pancake junkie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond meal
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup Water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
  • 2 T oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 T sweetener

Preparation:

Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a nonstick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.

Serve with sugar-free maple syrup, Easy Three berry Syrup, strawberry topping, or other low carb topping.

Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes

Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of Fiber, 6 grams of Protein, and 155 calories.

Foster Farms meatballs are really yummy and have like 16 g Protein in 3. I can only eat 2-2.5, but still that is alot.

Amylu carmalized onion chicken burgers from costco are good and juicy. I eat those alot, they have 22g of protein in 1, but are big and I can only eat 1/2.

Chicken salad and tuna salad

Wendy's Chili

Greek yogurt-i don't like it, but lots of people do

Cottage cheese

Foster Farms oven roasted turkey breast lunch meat with laughing cow cheese wedge spread on it-YUMMM

Oscar Meyer roast beef with the same as above

Baked salmon

Precious cheese stick

These are just some of the things I like to eat. Hope it helps you.

Kelly :)

Personally, I like eggs, so I've been having those. However, there's nothing saying that you have to have breakfast foods for breakfast. You can have anything that you would have for your other meals. Many times I will have leftovers from the day before for breakfast. My foods include chicken, tuna, fish, ground beef, etc. I'm on soft foods, so these are not "whole" foods as it were - but chopped up and mixed with low fat Miracle Whip or with a "pasta" sauce, etc. I've had meatloaf and had the leftovers for breakfast.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
