  1. I'm 5 lbs from goal and my 6 month surgiversary will be on the 27th of this month so I'm pretty sure I'll make it. Had a little bump in the road and had to get my gallbladder out yesterday, I'm hoping that doesn't mess up my momentum.
  2. I had my surgery on July 27, 2011 and so far I have lost 80 lbs as of this morning.
  3. I was wondering if the protein shakes count toward your needed fluid intake for each day?
  4. I did the exact same thing, it was so discouraging. From postop day 10-17 I lost nothing. It was driving me crazy. I lost a ton at first and then slowed to almost nothing... in a 21 day stretch I lost 4 llbs. I was so mad... but then I started walking (admittedly, not doing ANY exercise before) and then had 3 days where I lost a pound each day.

    Hunger

I feel your pain. I feel like I am starving all of the time. I was originally on Prilosec and then switched to Prevacid about a week ago and it seems even worse than it was before. I feel physically sick becaue of the hunger.
  6. I'm alright... I guess. I had my surgery on 7/27. I just got back from a cruise and it was painful to say the least...all of that food and nothing really healthy that I could eat. My stomach hurt the entire time. I'm having a really hard time bouncing back... I've got to get my fluids in but just can't seem to do it. How are you feeling?

    where is everyone?

Hi Mel, I'm 4 weeks out today... and as of this morning, down 30 lbs. I have REALLY had a slow weight loss the last few weeks... but I'm trying to look at the big picture. I think I lost like 23 lbs in the first week and then it started going super slow and very discouraging. The good thing is that I started in a tight 22W pants and I'm now wearing a juniors 19 and they're falling off of me... so that is fun! As far as food, I'm getting bored. Eating a lot of sliced lunch meat w/ laughing cow spreadable swiss on them and then I roll them up. Sometimes I put a thin slice of avocado in each of them. I haven't really found anything that disagrees with my stomach other than water... which sure makes it hard to get in all of the fluids I should be drinking. I think I've only managed 64 oz one day since surgery. I usually only hit half that or slightly over. I'm more used to the Protein Shakes now and don't hate them so much. I've been using Six Star Pro Nutrition whey isolate from walmart and it's not bad at all. I had ordered 4 containers of unjury when I first started and it was FOUL so I sent it back. As far as exercise, I have been walking, not as much as I should... but some. I am joining the Y once my 6 weeks are up and I can REALLY exercise. I love step classes so I will do those and some Water aerobics. I guess that's it for me!
  8. I have only lost FOUR lbs since 8/3... I'm only 3 weeks out, I feel like I should be losing more than that at this stage in the game. I am eating what I should, drinking my water, exercising and doing my protein shakes... the only thing I can come up with is maybe I'm drinking the wrong shakes? I started out on Unjury and could not stomach the taste or smell so I've been using Six Star Pro Nutrition Whey Isolate protein powder for about the last 2 1/2 weeks. It's this one... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Six-Star-Pro-Nutrition-Decadent-Chocolate-Elite-Series-Professional-Strength-Whey-Isolate-1.5-lb/15724167 Is this one okay to drink? I feel like I remember the NUT saying to stay away from certain things in protein drinks... is this one of those?? I can't figure out what else could be going on if it's not the protein shakes. Thanks for your input.
  9. I'm on week 3 and can have soft foods, soft fruits without the peel, cooked veggie, some meats, cheeses etc... I have been having 1/2 of a banana the last few days because I just really am not a fan of eggs... I've tried it and I just don't like them. But then I googled the nutrition information for bananas and was shocked at how many carbs it had... I had no idea! ugh. So what do you eat for breakfast that is low in carbs?

    Crab legs

I can only eat 1 leg right now and then I'm full.
  11. I sneezed really big yesterday and immediately felt a sharp pain. It felt like something tore, just below my largest incision. I also have pain in my side now, kind of like a cramp that you'd get in your side from jogging... does that make sense? I figured it would ease over night and I'd feel better today, but it hasn't. I called my surgeon after it happened and he said that was normal???? and to just take it easy. But I was 10 days post op yesterday, walking around and feeling really good, pain wise... and now I'm having trouble getting in and out of bed and doing the stairs in my house. I'm afraid I really hurt myself. Do you think that's possible?
  12. Hiya! I just had surgery 9 days ago with Dr. Kowalski, I really like him. You should be excited! It's the start of a whole new life! Congrats and see you soon on the losers bench!

    Welcome everyone!

With KCB, I was self pay so they just took that $500 off of my total owed once I paid my balance. I'm not sure what they do if you're going through insurance. And if I remember right...on the form when I paid my $500, there was the option to pay it in 2 portions. You might ask them about that if that would help you out at all. I understand though... this stuff is so expensive. I started at Malley, but ended up cancelling my consult when I found KCB.

    Welcome everyone!

I think I'll go too as long as I'm feeling up to it... what time is it? Is it at his office there off of Prairie Star?
  16. That's what he gave me too, it messed my stomach UP! I ended up just using Tylenol for 1 more day... and as of 2 days post op, I haven't taken anything for pain. Probably should have... but a week out, I'm doing okay now. How are you liking the Isopure? I tried the fruit punch and grape and ick. LOL I got a bunch of unjury stuff, the chicken spoup, chocolate and vanilla and not a fan of those either. I think I'll never find one that tastes GOOD. I just have to stomach it, I guess. Also, the pain when you drink things gets better as your stomach heals... hang in there.
  17. Glad to see some other KC people! I'm from up North. I had my sleeve done on 7/27 with Dr. Kowalski at KC Bariatrics. I've been very happy with him so far. Surgery went well, but had problems once I got home keeping things down. I think we finally figured out it was the liquid pain meds that were upsetting my stomach. After being readmitted and given fluids for 2 more days, I got out and am doing okay. Had a little set back tonight/this morning with feeling faint and very pale... I think it's from not getting in what I should be getting in as far as fluids and Protein. I'm working hard to get it all in now, though. I don't want to go back to the hospital, that's for sure. So, today is my 1 week surgiversary and I am down about 13.5 lbs... 19 lbs total (5.5 before surgery). I'm pretty stoked about it! Good luck to all of you.
  18. I had surgery yesterday and after a sucessful dye test... I was given the go ahead to start with some Clear liquids. However, I'm having trouble swallowing anyhing without it being uncomfortable... even Water. Also, there are several weird groany sounds escaping from my throat with every sip I take of water or broth. Was it like that anyone else? Will it get better?
  19. I'm ready but still nervous for tomorrow. I drank my magnesium citrate about 2 hours ago and O.M.G. I think I'm dying. I started my 2 day liquid diet yesterday and was shocked to get on the scale this morning and weigh 3 1/2 lbs less than I did yesterday morning. I'm starving though... hoping this feeling goes away after surgery. I'm starving, yet I feel pukey from that nasty drink I had to drink. Looking forward to the rest of my life, though.

    Hey July 27th Sleevers!!!

How's everyone feeling? I went from being super excited leading up to getting my surgery date... to super scared once I got my surgery date. And then the last few days, I've felt good and at ease. Now today, with 2 days left... the panic is setting in. I start liquids today, we'll see how that goes. I have no doubt that I will be able to stick to it, but I probably won't be a pleasant person to be around.

    Scheduled for NEXT WEDNESDAY!!!

Congrats and Happy birthday!!! I'm scheduled for the 27th too. I am SO nervous. I was fine and excited and so ready before I got the date and then once I had a solid date, I panicked. LOL Looks like there are quite a few of us, maybe we can stick together and all be surgery date buddies!
  22. We are considering a vacation mid October and my surgery will probably be at the end of July. Looking back, at 2 1/2 months post op, would you have felt up to a Disney vacation or are you still feeling not quite up to par? I'm wondering if it would be smarter to wait until March. Thanks for any advice!
  23. Yeah, I was thinking about the dining aspect of it. It's going to pain me to $30 ish per person for me to eat when I know I'll only be having a few bites at each meal. I wonder if there's anyway around that like say when we go to Ohana and places like that when you pay per person and are not just ordering off of a menu. Thank you to those of you who have replied to my question, I appreciate it!
