Lactose-Free Protein Drink suggestions

Recommended Posts

I never knew there were so many Protein drink formulas!

My doc recommends Medifast, but I want to use other formulas as well b/c I tried Medifast once and didn't love it.

The guidelines are about 100 calories, 12 grams Protein, and less than 3 grams of fat per 8 ounces. I prefer lactose-free. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Syn Trax has one out called nectar. It comes in fruit flavors (Two that come to mind are Apple Ecstacy and Fuzzy Navel) They are great if you stick them in the Magic Bullet with 2 ice cubes. Almost like a frozen mixed drink. Best I've found so far is Profect ( www.profect.com ) I am in no way affiliated, just a customer. This stuff has 25 Protein in only 3 oz!! 0 Carbs. And pretty tasty too.

Ooooh Leona that sounds yummy!

Question about the Protein powders though - aren't some made with milk? I don't mean mixed with milk, but some powders themselves are not lactose-free, are they? This is where I get confused.

If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they have a very inexpensive pure soy protien powder that you can mix into just about anything. It doesn't have much taste, but mixes into stuff well.

Also, if you have a blender, if you get a few blueberries or some frozen fruit, soy milk and silken (very important, silken) tofu and mix it comes out like pudding.

My MD required the medifast shakes also. I paid extra for the ready to drink (RTD) shakes and found the chocolate flavor to be quite good.

Hey Elisabeth! We have the same surgeon!

I think I will get some of the RTD Medifast, for convenience.

I have known Dr. Geiss professionally (I'm an RN) for MANY years. Since he's done so many lapband procedures (well over 1000) and has a great reputation, I had no problem choosing him as my surgeon. When is your surgery date?

My date is September 20th. Oddly, it WAS August 18th, then I received a call that it would be August 30th, and when I said I had been given a date, the 18th, I was told Dr. Geiss was on vacation. I had to move it to September b/c work begins to get very busy for me at the end of August (I work at a university). I'm actually happy about the date change, b/c it won't be so humid in late September and I can sit in my yard for longer periods of time.

It's great to hear more positive feedback about Dr. Geiss. I really am impressed with him and feel confident I made a good decision.

Cambridge has a lactose free product made from soy. It is quite economical (about $145.00 per month). It lasts even longer if you don't have 3 shakes a day. I like the taste and all the yummy recipes and I think thats why its the only thing I could ever stick with.

I am a distributor but am not really active in it right now. I could help you out if you are interested, pm me.

Darla

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
