Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

My one year surgaversary will be in April I started out at 270 and got down to 179 in October and have teetered between 179 and 181 ever since... I haven't been going to the gym and I have been eating junk food for snacks... I haven't been taking my Vitamins and I haven't been drinking my water..... So I know what to do to start again but I think it's all emotional eating... It was a happy time... My son was getting married and three weeks before the wedding his fiancé was caught by him in their home cheating.... The wedding was off I lost a lot of money because I paid for it all and my beautiful dress sits in the closet.... : ( My so. Is still with her... He has a big heart and loves her.... I just need to dig myself out of this slump and stop making excuses!! I want to hit my 100 pounds for my 1 year appointment!! Ugh!!

I'm 4 years 7 months out. I'd be lying if I said I eat correctly all the time. I regained about 27 pounds somewhere around end of year three. Lost all my regain using 5:2 Intermittent Fasting. In the last 8 months, I've allowed myself to add back about 15 pounds so tightening up and gaining control and utilizing 5:2 again. With that said, you just have to keep in mind that this is a TOOL not a easy fix. Like it was said, sliders ALWAYS slide and ANYBODY gains weight eating junk!

I started out at 255 and got down to 172... My goal was 165, but I looked and felt good at 172... It's been two years and I am now at 192, and not happy about it at all... I am eating (usually) within MyFitness Pal caloric intake (1300 cal per day) but not able to lose weight - I know I need to bump up my exercise but my primary "thing" was walking and my weight gain has exacerbated my plantar fasciitis and just routine walking is painful... (I know, excuses)... I felt so good when I lost the weight, but can't seem to get in sync again... I would like to try the 5:2 fast plan, but usually when I get really hungry I get jittery and light headed... Could I do the whole fast day using Protein Shakes? I need to do something to kickstart my weight loss...

the idea behind the 5:2 is keeping eating as normal as possible... that makes it easier to stick with. A Protein Shake now and then, no problem, but try to make it NOT look like a diet, because as we all know, diets dont work very well... they are just to hard to stick too! Do watch the 5:2 documentary.... it explanes a lot... and the fast diet web site has lots of good ideas for food plans as well.

I am a week after surgery. I have lost 2 lbs. I had better hopes.

First off, many people GAIN weight the first week. So you are ahead of the game. I came home 10 pounds heavier than when I went in.... its the IV. I suggest you let your body do its "thang" and cut the worry about the numbers at this point. There will be stalls, there will be slow downs.... just follow your plan and it will end up in the right place in the end.

Newbies... Relax... Key your took do it's job and don't obsess over the numbers in a scale. Follow your plan, step on a scale once every couple weeks... Measure once a month... It will happen..

Now I have been sleeved over 2 years.. I lost a boat load (287 to 115) and an currently struggling with a 15 pound weight gain. Don't sound like much, however it seems to be a huge difference in clothes. At 115 for over a year, a size 2; to a size 10????? In a matter of 3-4 months??? This is the craziest thing ever!

Sorry, just needed to vent. ;)

How did you lose so much weight with the sleeve-that is amazing?

What's your secret-what do you typically eat in a day?

I was sleeved 1 1/2 years ago and have only loist 85 lbs

ALMOST 5 YEARS OUT!!

Long story short. Sleeved April 2010 went from 230s to 108 at my lowest. Stayed steady from year 2-3. After 3 years out stayed steady at 118 for another year. Now year 4-5 I am 128. Now take into account I workout at least 4-5 days a week including weight training & running 7-10 miles a week. I do believe some of the weight gain is muscle. I went from a 0/2 to a 6/8 now. I used to drop pounds just breathing. Now I have to work really hard. Bottom line eating better & working out is the only key. I vowed to never return to my previous weight. Ever. Stay strong everyone!!

Btw: I am 4'11 & 37 years old. With 2 children. I also wanted to add that the number on the scale isn't what I fully look at. Yes I may have been 108 lbs at one point but I looked like skin hanging on bones. Now I am happy looking healthy & strong. I have worked through many aches & pains working out & running. From ankles, knees & hips.

Thats what I do NOT understand. I struggle harder because im older, have a ton of difficulty with arthritis dont take pain relievers and was just dx'd with piriformis syndrome. OUCH. Wt 197.8. Damn

I tried to post yesterday but don't see my comments. Oh well. My story is that I'm now 6 years out as of Jan 9. I don't struggle with weight at all. I started at around 240 and am now 136/137 at 5'7. I wear a size 4 with no changes. I have even been through menopause during this last few years with no weight gain. I don't kill myself with exercise but I do lift weights and have for 20 years and do light cardio. It's just not necessary to do more to maintain. Also, I eat a plant based diet so the majority of my intake is carbs. I've also had 2 rounds of plastics. The first one was 4 1/2 years ago and the second a year later. I just think this is where my body wants to be. I do suffer from autoimmune arthritis and osteoarthritis and need knee replacements but I'm not ready for that yet. I'm actually afraid I'll lose more weight with a big surgery.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.
