Hello my peeps!

It feels like FOOOOOREVER since I've posted here. I haven't weighed in a looooooong time

:-(...the last time I weighed myself I was 147 which would be a 3 lb. gain from my lowest of 144. I fear I may be at least 155 now, but not sure.

I'm still wearing 6-8 however some of the 6's feel snug and I FEEL BLOATED :-(...I have not been eating the way I should and not drinking enough Water (water has always been a problem for me).

I really need to up my exercise back to 5x a week. I have been going to 1 hour Zumba classes Tues, Wed, but I just bought Zumba Fitness Rush for Xbox Kinect and I really LOVE IT! I can do it at home YAY!

SOOOOO with that said I have decided to join weight watchers TOMORROW...I have always loved their program and want to learn about the new 360. I heard fruit is 0 points now LOL! And I really really really need to be accountable to a weekly weigh in. I know I'm gonna get what the heck is this girl doing here looks... but I gotta do, what I gotta do :)

I will probably have to change my weight gain vote from 1-5 lbs to more :-( ....but praying I can get back to that level, I CAN DO IT...Stay tuned...

Girl, you've done WAAAAAAY to good to backslide now. Try doing like I do, weigh every single morning, first thing. Some times I'm up a couple of lbs and some times I'm down a couple of lbs, but I want to make sure if it is what I am doing/eating and not just Water weight - I want to get on it immediately. Shedding two or three lbs is not a big deal, six, eight or ten lbs., that is a little more daunting to me!!!!! C'mon, you will be fine, keep in mind how GOOD it feels to slip into a size SIX!!!!! I bet you're like me....never in your wildest dreams, right???!!!!!!! Good luck!

Nine months out and reached goal of 180 lb February 2013. My weight fluctuates 1-3 lbs up usually when I am not drinking enough to keep up with exercise, not sleeping enough or I eat Protein Bars. I find if I eat Paleo with the exception of Protein Shake, I can drop 3 lb in a day even though eating 6 x a day of small Protein meals. My hunger also goes way down when processed food is cut from diet. I get my veggies through 2 daily green drinks and nutrition through supplements. It is very interesting at how fast our weight can cycle which makes me believe it is a lot of Water weight. Love using daily exercise to keep weight in check and energy levels high.

I'm not sure if we'll EVER quit worrying about gaining our weight back. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Part of me thinks if I worry about it, it keeps ME in control and aware of what I am doing.....then the other 'me' thinks, 'you will be fine' Oh, the headgames we play!!

Don't ever quit worrying about it. That's like throwing caution to the wind and for me, that would be a quick 10 lb gain.

Girl you are SOOOO right! I know that despite how hard I worked to get this weight off that it could come back pretty quickly if I don't watch it. I'm still struggling to get the 12# that I have put on from reaching goal. While I'm thankful I have a tool to help me and w/out this tool, I would be in a bigger world of trouble. That being said, I'm still having to work hard to get this off. I've been out of work since January and I go from being really good for awhile and then I go through a series of job rejections which sometimes triggers an emotional thing where I revert back to old habits. I still make myself weigh everyday. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but I feel that is the only way for me to stay accountable. Denial is how I got where I was and I need to know where I stand everyday whether I like the # or not.

I also get on the scales everyday,, just to be accountable..... If I don't it's like giving myself permission to not work at it today... so much of weight problems are a head game... eating for other reason than being hungry.... I might join a support group just to try and keep my head in the game.

Joining WW is a good way to be in a group environment for support and accountable when maintaining. Plus one can limit themselves to weighing only on visit. It is a good model for eating long term.

I highly recommend joining a support group. There are several of us in the North Dallas area that are regularly attending two or three!! It's fun, imformative and believe it or not, there will be people who want to talk to YOU and ask questions. There is one that is more formal, with speakers, the one PhD that is there, he is great. The other two are more informal, a nurse and dietitian are there to answer questions, but we go around the room and ask each other questions. I started attending ONE a couple of months prior to surgery, that is when I got addicted to going!!!

Head games....OMG, no truer words have ever been spoken!!!

I wish there was a support group in the Kansas City area I could join. Since I had my surgery in TX, none of the support groups through the local surgeons will allow people to attend that weren't clients which I think is crappy. I'm not into WW, so this site has become my support group which is good but it would also be nice to have some local people to connect with and be able to share about the challenges we all face regardless of what stage of the journey we are all on.

that sucks and is unusual, I had surgery in Dallas, but it was across town, I do not attend that support group, the three I attend are with different groups of doctors, and everyone is welcome.

We were living in Wisc when I had surgery, I attended a support group there, but flew home to Texas for surgery. Check around, have you called? That really is sad, for them too, they are limiting the experience of other patients. :(

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
