Protein bars?

Recommended Posts

I like the Protein Bars from Sam's called Pure Protein. They have 20 grams of protein in each bar. They are good for a snack or when I am in a hurry and can't stop to eat. One Bar is like a full meal for me. I can eat just one bar and be satisfied. When I know I am going to be gone for any length of time I put one in my purse to make sure I won't be tempted to eat something I shouldn't. It works for me.

I eat the ones from costco occasionally. I used to eat them all the time but then I tried the Oh Yeah bars. I love them. I get them from vitacost.com

I like the ones from Pure Protein, they are yummy. They are all high in protein and low sugar! The carb count is usually 18-20g, but I don't super low carb so they work for me.

Pure Protein is too... protein-y for me. It tastes funky. I really like the Oh Yeah! and the PowerCrunch brands so far. I'm just trying a bunch. I really wanted to like the ThinkThin ones, but they tasted like Protein Bar too much. LOL. I guess the "wafer" ones are more my style as well.

How soon after surgery did you guys start using the bars? I am 2 1/2 weeks out and really struggling to get in my Protein. I tried that whey powder stuff but is is so clumpy I can't get it down. I was moved to soft foods on Monday of this week but not sure if they qualify for that.

I didn't start eating the Protein Bars until I was about six weeks out. I am not sure the system would have tolerated them any earlier. I took them on our vacation with me and they were a definite lifesaver.

Another vote here for the OhYeah! wafer bars. I tried their regular Protein bars and they were too dense, the wafers are just right. I hated the Pure protein ones, too dense and weird-tasting. I tried one called Quest in the Apple Pie flavor and it was okay--kind of like a chewy Nutrigrain bar. I don't eat protein bars often, just carry one in my purse for emergencies. I was probably 3 months out before I ate one.

Does anyone do Protein bars? Like for a quick Protein on the go? Im 7 weeks out and was at costco and tried these really good protein bars. Just wanna know If so what kind, and ETC THANKS

I almost bought some protein bars at costco today. They weren't the Pure Protein ones, even though they had those. It was a brand called Premier Nutrition that just has PROTEIN in huge letters on the front of the package. 30g of protein per bar. What kind do you use?

Another vote for Pure Protein although I like only the chocolate Peanut Butter flavor and not the other flavors.. It has 18 carbs I think 2 carbs sugar with the 20 grams protein. It is dense as someone said, but I find it filling if I get stuck eating a protein bar as Meal Replacement. Someone mentioned Power Crunch. those taste really good to me -- like a cookie -- which is a bit of a problem for me. In addition, they only have 13-14 grams of protein, which is a little low. for my needs. On the other hand, only 10 grams of carbs, 5 of them sugar. Quest made me sick when I tried them, but that was a long time ago -- at 4 months or so. I could probably eat them now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
