Protein bars

Recommended Posts

bariatric pantry keeps sending me ads for Protein Bars. Nowhere in the ad can I find the breakdown of gms of Protein, carbs, sugars and etc. Why don't they provide these? How would I know if it is something I could eat (when that time comes) if I don't have that information... Maybe the answer is...they don't provide it because if they did most wouldn't order it?

I just received an order from dietdirect.com (very fast free shipping) and ordered a variety of Protein bars. I think I got six boxes. I bought BariWise and WonderSlim products. All that I have tried so far are very good. I've had some bad protein bars, but these were really good. I would never know they were protein bars. They do publish all the information about them on their site. Most have 15 grams of Protein. I went looking for the lemon meringe because I heard they were good. They were out of stock. I got the variety pack and it had a lemon one. I can see why they are out of stock. Delish. The crispy ones remind me of like rice krispie crunch dipped in a chocolate or flavor of the bar coating. The count on the Peanut Butter one I had was 15 protein, 15 carbs, and 160 calories. I tried the wonderslim ones (chocolate mint are good) and they are about 15 grams of protein too. You might consider looking at their website. When I was surfing around I got an instant message from their representative giving me a code for $10 off. So that was excellent. You can search for coupon codes because they are out there. I also got a free sample pack that included two drinks. I bought some Bariwise Cappuccino. It was good but sweet. I got some instant Decaf which I might stir in next time. That cup was 15 grams of protein. I made my morning seem more normal. I was a big coffee drinker before. I'd probably order it again or try their hot chocolate. Since I'm telling you about good tasting protein bars...pure protein bars are good and have 20 grams of protein. I get their chocolate peanut butter and chocolate chip. They are really filling. Higher in calories though...200.

I found some great Protein bars..called Power Crunch. They are 200 calories but only 10 carbs and they have 14 g of protein! The best thing about them is they are big so can last for 2 Snacks, but they are really light and crispy, exactly like a "sugar wafer" cookie. And they are delicious! I've seen them at Trader Joes, costco, Vitamin Shoppe, and even Ebay online...they come in about 6 different flavors. And they are big so lots of yummy crunching! Let me know if you want me to upload a picture of one.

And I'm completely hooked on my favs, "Think Thin." The creamy Peanut Butter tastes and feels EXACTLY like a Reese's Peanut Butter cup, and 1 bar usually lasts me 2 "meals" and a bite or two for a snack...one bar has 230 calories (please, like I could ever eat a whole one!), 20 g Protein, and 23 g carbs. Not low-carb, but there are 0 g sugar and they are gluten-free. These things have saved my hiney because I can't tolerate Protein drinks--none of 'em--I just got some Click Mocha, and it's just as gross as the others--it's the smell, like feet! So the bars fill a really important void for me. I definitely don't eat a lot of "junk" food or concentrated carb foods other than these bars, so I feel comfortable including them.

I am going to try some of those Power Crunch bars, too, since I find them almost everywhere I shop, and that would be really convenient--the Think Thin are carried at several major grocery chains around here, but they're not as common as the Power Crunch.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
