Sitting in ER waiting room right now, freaking out! Started noticing pain in my right ankle this morning but didn't think much of it. Shopped all afternoon and when I got home noticed it was swollen and tender - on the right side only.

So scared of a possible blood clot, if that's what it is, how do they fix it?! I'm 5 weeks out today, anyone else had this? I am praying it is just edema or something ... :(:(:(

Saying a prayer for you. I'm almost three weeks out and I've worried about blood clots too, but it sounds like you've been quite active. It is my understanding that clots form from inactivity. I hope the doctor will give you good news.

 Try not to worry. They have meds they give to break up the clot/thin the blood. You'll be on bedrest for a while until it has completely resolved and they will watch your blood counts closely. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys!

Still waiting to be seen...One thing is that it's a general ER and I am scared to admit I had VSG in Mexico! I only said I had bariatric surgery recently... Have heard such awful stories about how people are treated - do I lie and say I had it in CA or something? Will they ask for details? Arrgh :(

I would just be slightly vague. Tell them about your surgery and when you did it. They shouldn't need to grill you about where you had it done because your issue is not with your stomach.Let s know how you are doing!!!

BTW: my mom ended up in the ER with her lapband. She admitted she had it done in Mexico. They asked her alot of "WHY" questions, then left the subject alone. They've been pretty good to her ever since!!

Hi all, so sorry I didn't respond! I sent a reply from my phone at the time that I now see didn't post, and ended up going out of town unexpectedly so by the time I got back, this topic must have been pushed far down the page - only noticed now because I'm trying to set up a ticker!

So after a LONG night at the ER, they basically couldn't tell me what was wrong (!!), so I still left pretty nervous, but then I do tend to be a bit of a hypochondriac. But when it's a potential blood clot, who can blame me?! I did go back to the doctor to follow up on it and began sleeping with my foot elevated at night and trying not to stress it. The swelling eventually went down on it's own and the doctor thinks it was like edema in just one foot. WEIRD and very scary, but I'm glad it wasn't more!

Thank you guys so much for checking up on me and again didn't mean to not answer! I'm 9 weeks out this weekend, so I think I'll do my first real update post and check in with everyone...xxo

It's ALWAYS better to be safe and worried than to ignore something that turns into a life threatening situation!

I went in to the ER last Monday only to find out my severe stomach pain was the result of Constipation. More embarrassing than anything but hey, I got IV fluids for about 3 hours! You did right by going to the ER with those symptoms. I hope you start feeling better soon and are back to walking it up again.

Ask your doctor to test you. Ddimer test is for blood clots. Uric Acid test is for gout. Did they run either of those on you?

If it is stil red couldn't hurt to ask!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
