So I was doing great with the weight loss, losing 17lbs in 11 days, and then comes my period. The weightloss has stopped for the past 4 days or so and I'm completely frustrated.

I know it's because of my period, but I can't help but feel like the weightloss has completely stopped. What has been your experience after the end of your period? Do you drastically lose 10lbs? or does it begin to move slowly again?

The week before my period, I stop losing. The week of, I GAIN about 5 pounds. The next week I lose the 5 pounds I had gained the last week. Then I drop between 5-10 lbs the next week. Round and round it goes. In the long run I've lost lots of weight, so I've gotten over it now. It'll happen. Try not to stress over it

I had not had a period for almost three years due to birth control. Right after the surgery I had one that seemed to last forever. Now I spot almost once a week. Right before it seems like I stall. Then the weight comes off later. Now I'm fresh into this so I dont know if that will continue but I will say my body is all out of whack so who knows. When I start spotting I get off the scale.< /p>

sleeve newbie, I'm in the same place you are right now... the scale's going up cuz of my period. I dunno what will happen afterwards, cuz it's still going on and I'm only 3 weeks post-op so this is the first time.

I am frustrated and sad. Not to mention just generally feeling ill cuz I think my period is causing all sorts of other health issues to flare up :(

It's definitely Water weight tho... don't worry.

I can tell because the body fat % on my scale dropped by several points, haha. Also because my husband squeezed my arm like a ripe fruit (you know, the fleshy bat wing) and said "Don't worry, it's water." (Apparently I'm squishier when it's Water than actual fat. My husband ALWAYS knows just what to say.)

Hi Sleeve Newbie! I know what you are going through and try not to get too frustrated. I'm almost 6 months out and my weight will stall right before and during my period. Once it's done then the scale starting going back down.

Just keep sipping your Water and Protein shakes and in no time you will start dropping again!

Whew! I was starting to think I was the only one!

This is my first period, well, I did have one 3 days after surgery, so I guess second one! I have not lost a thing in 2 weeks and I was really starting to wonder what the hell I was doing wrong. I eat according to plan, exercise and drink like a fish! I almost cried this morning when it went up .2 lbs!!

I am doubly sad because I go to see my surgeon Thursday for my first check-up since surgery on May 9th and I wanted to weigh less. I am only 3 lbs away from onderland!!!

Oh well, it is what it is and I can't make the damn thing move!

Kelly

It sounds like you got hit with a double whammy - the dreaded week three stall and your period. Relax, there is nothing you can do about it. Stick to your plan, hide the scale, and drink more Water if you can. I just went through this about 2-3 weeks ago. The scale has started moving for me again, not quite as fast though.

Yep my weightloss stops the couple days right before and then during my period! But as soon as its winding down, the loss begins again (thank God!). So I think what you are experiencing is completely normal.

I was thinking that I possible avoided that dreaded 3 weeks stall! But, I think you are right, except mine just came a little later and brought a friend too boot!

I seriously thought I was the only person in existance that the sleeve was not going to work for! I am glad this was posted today!

Kelly :D

Heyy, I woke up this morning and the 3lbs I gained over 3 days (!!) of Aunt Flo were gone. Still not losing, but I see a light at the end of the irritating, poorly timed, cramp-y tunnel. ;) You all are right, of course! If anyone else is experiencing bloating, weight gain, stalls due to your period, just know that everybody's right: it feels TERRIBLE, but it does just go away afterwards.

I gain (on average) 11 lbs for my TOM. When TOM is over, I pee a bunch one day, and then I'm back where I started. :)

Just remember - the scale weighs all of your mass, including fluids (and things like hair, and poop, and your last meal...). The scale doesn't do anything specific to your fat mass or lean mass. It's going to fluctuate on a daily/hourly basis.

The weightloss has stopped for the past 4 days or so

For your own sake, break the scale habit. :) It WILL fluctuate, sometimes drastically, and these fluctuations WILL have emotional consequences.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
