I do not see how I'm going to be able to drink 4 servings of powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and 54 ounces of Water in a day.

I have just a couple sips of water and feel nauseated. I'm starting to think I left the hospital too soon.

I have dry heaves and feel all around crappy.

I know how rough it is right now, but each day IS going to get easier and easier. In the beginning it seems near impossible to consume the amounts our doc's want us to, but we have to get in as much as we can. As your swelling goes down you WILL be able to get a little more in each day.

What you are experiencing is VERY normal. So don't worry...just sip, sip, sip. At two days out you need to really concentrate on your Water. My doc was not concerned so much with getting in the Protein during the first week because we should have enough in us to carry us through it.

You HAVE to stay hydrated...so concentrate on sipping throughout the day. The first few weeks are the hardest, but before you know it, it will get better! Sending hugs and prayer your way.

Keep us posted and get lots of rest! :)

My doctor wanted me out of the hospital the next day. I refused. Day two was dry heave day for me. I am so glad I did. Not only from the point of not having to suffer through at home alone, but from the aspect of learning to stand up for myself. You know, my doctor actually seemed to think I wanted to stay there for the "luxury" of it. Like I thought I was at a hotel. The next day I went home and have done pretty well since.

I can only tell you that I think that a lot of people have that one day where their stomach kicks back. If you are taking any pain meds other than Tylenol, I would put them on hold if you can. (They cut mine as soon as the heaving started and I haven't gone back to them.)

If it lasts more than one day, you will need help. Today, try sipping warm tea instead of Water. Don't worry about Protein at all. If real broth sits better on your stomach, use it. They can prescribe meds for the nausea, so don't hesitate to call and ask for them to call in a prescription for you.

It's a rough day. But it really will pass. But if it doesn't, you may need to go back for help.

I had my surgery on Wednesday. Today was the 1st day I was able to get down 4 oz of Protein. I have been sipping on warm tea and that has gotten me by. I sip Water also but I am having a hard time with it. I am sipping trough out the day, I am hoping I am getting enough. I am tired. I am trying to sit up and walk around the house. The gas was so bad last night I paced the hallway at 4 am. I guess everything is going fine other than that. I hope....

I guess I'm just freaking about getting dehydrated. I (so far) only got down maybe 18 ounces of Water, and maybe 2 ounces of unjury.

It's nearly 7 PM here, so I'll keep drinking.

The pain comes in waves, but dang.... blink.gif

I'm going to make some green tea and see how that feels. I had dry heaves last night, not fun at all. Hoping for a better night tonight.

Thanks for the replies.

I am pre-sleeve but my plan is to use the unflavored in my Water, Decaf coffee and tea...so that I will be getting Protein in everything I can.

Terrib,

If this continues or you are still really worried about dehydration; you should consider calling your surgeons office. They maybe be able to prescribe an anti-emetic (anti-nausea) to help. This may require an office visit.

Personally, I ended up staying in the hospital for 4 days. I had major problems with anesthesia and the IV pain meds. I was so green and heaving for the first three days there was no way that I would have been able to drink enough. I had continuous IV fluids and pills for the nausea every 2 hours. It is the worst those first few days, but it really will get better.

As for when I got home, sipping warm tea helped so much. I really like The Tea from Aveda, it's a comforting tea. Herbal and very soothing with a good flavor.

What a difference a week makes. I feel great. my incisions itch like crazy, and most of the steri strips have fallen off.

I'm dealing with the liquids OK, I only have 4 days left counting today and part of Wednesday.

That chicken broth is what keeps me going. I have chocolate unjury and Alpine somethingorother Isopure, I'm so over chocolate.< /p>

I yearn for some food tasting substance. LOL

I hope I lost weight when I go to my post op checkup on Wednesday, according to my Wii, I'm still gaining. (or not losing)

I've been slacking on the exercise, but if I can go all day without any Loritab, then I'll start tomorrow. I walk but anything else gets me woozy.

I'm only using the Loritab at night, so I can sleep uninterrupted by aches and pains. I'll take Tylenol tonight and see how that goes.

Thanks for listening and giving advice and tips. It's priceless to me. ♥

Ti's always good to read that things are are getting better. The first week is pretty hard, then it does go easier...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
