ditto here, Lizzilo. thanks for the tip re: lyquid tyl. When I was 16 I used it for cramps because I couldn't swallow pills yet. (not that it worked for menstrual pain) and it was much easier to find, then.

I'm an armchair astrologer...good analogy.

Well, one week from today I start my liquid diet. 10 days of nothing but SlimFast. Not fun. I'm heading to my mom's tonight for her awesome ribs, some corn on the cob, and sauteed mushrooms. Yum! Still trying to decide what my last meal will be next Friday, aside from a huge bowl of ice cream! :) Any tips for surviving the hunger for 10 days?

Can we take regular Gas X caplets or does it need to be a liquid or chewable? I tried the Gas X strips and they are just nasty! I wanted to puke. Other than that, I've got my Flinstone's Vitamins, liquid Tylenol, a heating pad, stool softener just in case, and tons of Soup. I'll get some yogurt, sf Jello, pudding, and yogurt smoothies the day before surgery.

Also, my nutritionist said that instead of spending lots of money for a Protein Powder to add to stuff I could just use dry milk and add it to my pudding, milk, carnation instant Breakfast, etc. She said it's a lot cheaper, tastes much better, and does the same thing as the Protein powder. It adds 8g of protein per serving. I found it in the baking aisle at the store. Just thought I'd pass that tip along!

One more day until I start my Pre-Op liquid Opti-Fast diet. To be honest, I am actually looking forward to it. Since getting my date this past Tuesday and knowing that I "only" had 6 days left to eat, I have been "last suppering" since then and am MISERABLE. You would really think that this would discourage me from eating...but of course NOT!!! Anyway, I have tomorrow's meals planned, IHOP for brunch and then The Melting Pot for my real "last supper" as I know them.

Opti-Fast will start on Monday. I have to drink at least 5 shakes a day, an extra shake or some broth if I feel I need it, and all the zero calorie drinks I can handle. Sound a little over whelming, but I am READY!!!!

Thanks to all for all your posts. They have not only been helpful, but down right hilarious at times!

Hi Everyone....

I'm getting banded 8/16 and I'm starting my mandatory two weeks of full liquids tomorrow. They're allowing us watered down creamy Soups with Protein powder, slim fast, of course, broth....watered down grits or cream of wheat....anything that's pourable.

So tonight it's Frrrriiiiiiiiiied Chicken! WoooHoooo.

How are you all first week of August bandsters doing? Wednesday, August 2 is the day for me and after tonight no red meat and Pasta for quite awhile if ever. I had my last bite of fajitas today and one piece of chocolate. I have not lost any more weight - 13 pounds - but the more Protein I take in, the more energy I seem to have. I am already eating much smaller meals but I know they are gigantic compared to what's ahead.

Are we all ready for this? I have now told my best friends, mother, and mother-in-law (the latter is typically anti-surgery - she just believes in good old fashioned will power!), and everyone is 100% supportive. I am there and ready for the change. Let's roll!!!!

I returned from my "last supper" cruise. I was supposed to be doing the high Protein, low carb diet per my doctor's orders, but that didn't happen. So, I hope my liver isn't a problem! -- at least I didn't drink much!

I am so excited about my surgery on Wednesday, though I know that I will be nervous at some point. I haven't bought anything for post-op -- gotta do that in between work, kids, etc. over the next 2 days.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

What do you guys plan to do about clothes?

I've been up and down the scales a few times, so I finally just packed a couple of storage boxes and labeled them 200-225 and 175-200. If, no WHEN, I get past that I'm celebrating...at the mall!! And this time I'll donate the old clothes.

And the before and after pics... I'm way ahead of you (and yes digital cameras are the bomb). I also password-protected the non-public pics!

:clap2: Started the pre-op liquid diet yesterday. So far, so good. August 9th, here I come.

I did a lot of shopping today. Of course I bought everything I will need for tomorow which is all day Clear Liquids. I also bought some things for thin puree so I'd know what I like such as baby foods. That was funny. I tries severl Gerber and BeechNut stage 2 foods today. I was not instructed to do a pre-op diet. I guess the surgeon's not concerned about my liver. But I think EVERYBODY must do clear liq. the day before. I am sooo excited. My mother, great as she is, is doign the first week shopping for me tomorrow so I don't have to be in supermarkets etc. while only having liquids. Too tempting.

I wish all first week of August Bandsters well and a smooth uneventful surgery. :bananapartyhat:

Losin' It, I'm the same way with last suppering! Start my liquid diet this Saturday. Yesterday I had bbq ribs at my mom's, tonight going to Red Lobster for crab legs, Thursday out with a friend for burgers. I'm already tired of food I think! :( That's a good thing though, right?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
