Happy2BeMe -

I was suppose to start my period the Friday before surgery, but was very happy that it did not come. Then I had surgery on Monday and Wednesday morning Mother Nature came to visit. I normally am a tampon user and thought there is NO WAY I can bend over to apply a tampon so I had to use pads for the first 2 days, then I was able to use tampons. It's been rough - but I really think the stress of surgery postponed me!

Good luck to you on your surgery! I hope things all go well, just be prepared for that annoying tugging that you will feel where the port is placed. That has been the worst of the whole thing - besides losing my best friend (Food)!

Denise,

With all of the lurking around i've been doing on this, I think I am prepared for almost anything. I am a big baby when it comes to pain, though, so I hope it's not too bad. I do understand that the port is the most painful, though. I know I'm not going to be able to sleep too well, tonight, too excited!

RLittman, Bug,

I TOTALLY learned my lesson. I'm back to mushies. Actually I'm getting my first fill Friday, so I'll probably be back to liquids for a bit.

Happy2Bme, best of luck tomorrow!!!

Everyone here has been so supportive and helpful. It's really a great place to go.

Holy carp libra! You get a fill already?! My doc won't even consider doing them till 6 weeks out, and then only if you lose no weight 2 weeks in a row. lucky you that you don't have to wait that long!

Yeah, I thought it was a little early but hey, I'll take it. My brother's wedding is in June and I wanna lose as much as possible before then.

And also, now my port is really hurting. What's wrong?

I find that if I stand for longer than about 15 minutes my port will hurt a little, but nothing that I need pain meds for. I would call your doctor just to be safe. I called my doc today with what I thought was a stupid question and they said they were glad I called and asked.

Does any one feel way BETTER than expected??

I felt great after surgery. I think getting up and walking quickly after surgery really helped.

I had a cheeseburger tonight and it tasted divine! Of course, I pureed it in the food processor with some ff dressing till it looked like cat food. But it still tasted great! quote]

I love the blender!!! Tonight my hubby had a lemon pepper chicken from Wal-Mart. He was shocked when I popped it in the blender with some chicken broth and started the blender. It looked nasty, but it was WONDERFUL!!! After being on Clear Liquids for the last two weeks, I have decided ANYTHING can be pureed if you crave it enough!!!

Good luck tomorrow!!!!

Yes, I felt way better than I expected-I was shocked. I had no gas problems at all and the pain was very real but managed with just liquid tylenol on the 4th day. I was tired so I stayed out of work for the whole week. My port or the port incision doesn't bug me-mine is about 4 inches down from my bra line right on the sternum between my breasts. So it doesn't tug.

Reminder-anyone who knows where their port is going to be places draw on your self where bra line ends. People thought I was crazy but my bra does not touch my port!

I got banded today. Everything went very well and I am doing great. I had to use the bathroom right away because of all the fluids. Once I did this the pain was really almost gone!!! I started to walk and did not stop moving for the next hour untill I had to do my Fluro test. My doctor and nurse said that I was one of the quickest recoveries that they has seen.

Not all was good......... My doctor said the my liver was also one of the biggest that he has see. I was on liquids for 3 weeks but I did do South Beach at night for one of those weeks. I lost 21lbs during this time and can't imagine how big my liver was before the liquid stage. My bmi is only 36 so he is really shocked with this.

I have not slept much at all. I took two 25min naps and one that lasted an hour. Now it's 1am and I just came back in from a walk. The only trouble I am having is getting up from the sofa and I have not even tried out my bed yet. It sits too high and I don't want to hurt myself trying.

I did gain eight lbs from the surgery. I hope that when I get weigh myself in the morning I will be back down again.

Can someone tell me how long the bloating lasts? Also I have not gone number 2 in four days. I talked to my doctor and he said that was fine. I could take some milk of mag. to move things along if I wanted to.

Well this is my experience of banding day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
