New Medicare Rule! Can"t Get My Fill!

Recommended Posts

Just now saw this... "I hear ya Alexandra, but the cost of that fill leaves my mouth hanging open. :omg: "

My insurance covers normal fills so I'm not sure but I think it's like $150 for a non-fluoro fill. However, he charges $800 for a full under fluoro. $800. No joke.

UPDATE:

I GOT A FILL TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to see my original surgeon today for a follow up and he gave me a fill in his office! He said he normally does not do this as most of his patients are not on Medicare (or can afford the out of pocket).

How nice of him was that??

I said to him at the begining of the visit "I researched surgeons for over a year and chose you for a reason. I'd hate to have to go to someone else". And that was the god's honest truth.

Awesome.

Questions:

I have 1.5 cc's in a 4 cc band. I'm on liquids for a day. Tomorrow full liquids right?

DOes restriction kick in right away?

I went to the beach afterward to swim. That won't hurt the puncture will it? Infect it? I didn't even think of it till now.

Yay you got a fill!!!! Congrats!

have 1.5 cc's in a 4 cc band. I'm on liquids for a day. Tomorrow full liquids right? full liquids or soft mushies...take it slow. some folks go ahead and follow the post of diet as long as possible if the limited intake and liquids jump start the weight loss...up to you, just go slow.

Oh, just thought about your post-op swelling issues...reaallllllly take it easy and be careful.

DOes restriction kick in right away? some folks don't feel a thing till 2 weeks out. ??? You should feel a difference the first time you eat food with substance. Look for the ever so slight chest pressure, then don't take another bite till it goes away.

I went to the beach afterward to swim. That won't hurt the puncture will it? Infect it? I didn't even think of it till now. Probably not, not with salt Water. Keep the puncture clean and dry. Maybe dab a tiny bit of antibiotic ointment on it at bedtime. Should be fine.

Yay Leener! Let us know how it goes!

Thanks Lisa! :-)

I appreciate your support and I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for the people on this board.

Congratulations, leener! I knew they'd come through for ya. ;-)

Take it slowly on eating; you never know when restriction will kick in or whether you'll have swelling in response to the increased tightness. Everyone is different so PAY ATTENTION to your body's signals. Welcome to bandlandia!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
