Hello everyone. I signed up for this forum about a year ago and kind of quit looking at it after my insurance refused to pay for surgery. We were able to save up some money and on April 14th I had my sleeve done! I lost 20 pounds on my pre-surgery diet and since the 14th, I've lost another 25 pounds.

I will begin soft foods on Thursday, but I'm nervous, since I can barely handle anything still. I get a lot of reflux often from just a sip of Water and when I do eat applesauce or mashed potatoes right now I get a little nauseous. Is there anything I need to be doing differently?

Hi there and congratulations!

I had my sleeve on 4/12 and I still get nauseous every time I eat food. I actually get clammy and feel like I can't catch my breath at times. The rumbling and churning can be painful...but it passes in a few minutes. It actually seems to be getting a little better with time, but its really day by day. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but mix it up I guess. I have never been able to tolerate applesauce or eggs, but cottage chesse is usually good. pudding depends on the day and there is NO Protein shake I can handle yet. I have to drink the Isopure Protein Water, it takes about 4 hours to drink the bottle, but its 40 grams of protein...so I have to do it. I hope you do better every day, I hear this is the hardest part!!! Stay strong!

Congrats on the surgery!!! Don't force the food just do what you can and it will get better, are you on a PPI?

Thanks for the encouragement! I am currently taking prevacid and my doctor told me if I want that I can take pepcid or other chewables if I need to.

I am trying to add foods slowly and I'm looking forward to continuing to make friends here.

All your symptoms are normal at this time. Just really take tiny bites. I still use baby forks for food and bought a candle warmer to put my plates on so my food didn't get cold. Before you know it, the pain and gas will be gone. Good Luck and congratulations :)

I'm having great success. After the initial phase of learning to eat, things are going great. I've lost about 93lbs and have gone from a Size 48 waist to a Size 38 in just 4 months! I am so happy I got my sleeve and will tell anyone who struggles with their weight to look into it!;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
