As some of you know I have been on my pre-op diet for 3 weeks now and I guess because I am so busy at work all the time I hadn't started thinking about this until this weekend and today. It's a little slow here at work today so while I sit here I just don't know what to do with myself. I used to go grab something to eat....Same thing as with home. I don't know why it didn't hit me before now, I am just sitting and thinking too much I guess.

I didn't realize until now how often I would just eat cause I had nothing else better to do at the time. 2 more weeks of this, i just keep telling myself it is all worth it.

You're right it is worth it! I'm pre-op too but not yet on my official pre-op diet but I have been making a lot of lifestyle changes in regards to eating. I have to agree, i too used to eat out of boredom. It's very challenging to find other ways to handle it. I have been spending a lot of time reading and posting here, spending time with family and friends, preparing for and planning the trip to go have surgery, walking, reading, shopping even if it's just window shopping. And yeah it's a good idea to think about it now cuz maybe we can get some ideas for post op. It's gonna be different then to.

wow, i can't get past you being on a liquid diet for 5 weeks?! blink.gif bless you!

but i agree, i'm on my liquid diet now. I don't know what to do with myself at home. i make up for it by going to the gym more often, and hanging out with friends more; bowling, movies, and shopping lol

You can do the liquid diet. For my first surgery I had to lose 10% of my weight. I did a medically supervised liquid diet for 63 days with three meals that I cheated on (with the doctors permission)- high Protein, low carb.

Find something to do with your hands. I learned to crochet during my diet.

Yea 5 weeks.... The first two weeks I was really positive and this last week I just don't feel like anything is happening, like I am in a stall on the pre-op diet, not sure how that happens, I'm not eating hardly anything. Plus every three months I get a depo shot and it is coming up to get it again, May 2nd, day before surgery. Since I have been getting the shot I never get my TOM, however it must be the drastic change in my diet because I have had a light one for the last 2.5 weeks, enough already.....I suppose that is making me more irritable and frustrated. Sorry if that was TMI.

I just want it to get here already and I am afraid if I don't lose anything else, he might postpone me again....

Started reading a new book, so hopefully that should keep me busy.

Thanks for the support =) Coming here keeps me busy for a while and I love reading all the successes people have and seeing the photos.

Only one more week to go. I am worried he is going to cancel me. I don't feel like I have been losing anything over these past 2 weeks. How can I not be losing when I am only getting about 1000 calories a day?

I am excited and worried and scared all at once with all of these thoughts starting to go through my head. I hope it doesn't get canceled and I hope everything goes well if it doesn't.

Are you completely liquid or do you get some food? I am dreading Monday- straight liquid, no food whatsoever.

It so annoys me that we are judged if we don't lose enough weight pre op- obviously many of us CAN'T lose weight! Why would it be different before the surgery? The whole reason I am even having this surgery is because as an invalid I can;t lose weight on 1000 calories- I need something extreme.

I am having three shakes per day, a control bar and then a baked chicken breast for dinner. I was eating steamed veggies everyday but but now only once in awhile. Popsicles and SF Jello for Snacks.< /p>

I now this will be short lived, but having spent yesterday and today eating things I love to excess I am almost looking forward to the simplicity of the liquids. I expect I will get over THAT by Monday afternoon!

My husband is joking that I am trying to weight load like the folks om Biggest Loser who Water load- with my weight extra high on Monday I can use that as my starting weight. ;-P

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
