Just wondering where you had your sleeve done? I'm considering Mexico and am looking for info! Thanks!

May...I am 5 days post-op with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, and my daughter was sleeved by him 7-1-10. She has lost 90 lbs and feels better than she ever has. My experience there was awesome. Don't let anyone say you are crazy for considering Mexico. My daughter and I are both registered nurses, and the hospital there is remarkable. Not only was it beautiful, it was cleaner than any I have ever seen. My trash was emptied and my floor mopped 3...count 'em 3 times a day. Beautiful marble floors, bathrooms better than any hotel I have ever stayed in. The personnel are extremely attentive and the doctors are so caring and professional. Two of them made rounds 3 times daily. I had a slight problem with my BP, as I missed a day of my medication, but it was dealt with promptly and effectively. Hopefully I will not need it in a few months.

Postoperatively, I have had a very uneventful course so far. No nausea, very little pain (no pain med since my plane trip home on Sunday) and no problem getting my liquids in at all. I am having juice, Water, broth, tea and whey Protein mixed in Water during my 10-day clear liquid diet. My daughter says by this Friday I will be wanting to chew on my pillow, but so far, so good.

Hope this information helps. Do your research. There are several docs in Mexico that sleevers on the board swear by. Don't be afraid to go there for your surgery. My insurance didn't cover it, so I was self-pay, but that way we just did our research, cleared it with our primary care docs here in the States and scheduled our surgeries. No jumping through hoops to make the insurance company happy. Good luck with your research. Keep us posted...Kathe

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
