On My Way to the Hospital

Recommended Posts

After about 7 months of jumping through hoops and willing this day to come... It all seems so fast! I (cognitively) feel ready and prepared but my body betrays my nerves. I've got this wierd trembly lip thing, a headache, and a SEVERE case of the grouchies.

Ah well, the bag is packed, the house is in order, I'm scrubbed and clean. I've done everything the surgeon asked me to along the way so I know it's all in God's hands now. I have to be at the hospital at 10:30, surgery at 12:30, a 30 hour stay... by this time 2 days from now I'll be home and well on my way to beginning the rest of my life. :D

Wish me luck!

Good luck to you! I'm amazed you're even writing today! My surgery is in 2 1/2 weeks so I'll watch for your updates! And thank you ahead of time!

So whoever said the first 72 hours are the worst genuinely seemed to hit the nail on the head!

I'm happily chugging into day 4 right now and am optimistic the worst is behind me. Some pain but not unbearable. Some nausea but I was told to expect it.

All in all it was a safe, efficient surgery. I went home after a day and a half in the hospital, and things seem to be getting easier everyday. Sip, walk, rest, repeat!

Thank you for all the kind words and prayers, I KNOW they helped. I will add a more detailed description of the surgery experience to my blog in a few days. Too tired right now.

Baby steps, right? :D

I'm so glad to see that your surgery went well. I'm just starting my journey. Starting to jump through the hoops and can't wait to be on the other side. Just wanted to say that when you put ANYTHING in God's hands, it's always in the right place, at the right time with the right outcome. So glad He said yes to your prayers, and I know He's saying yes to mine too!

Take care of yourself now and He'll take care of everything else.

Donna

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
