Well I'm Home. Got home last night. THought I had posted here but must have forgotten to hit the post button. How can you come home from all of that nothing at all and only liquids, and gain 11 lbs? Talk about discouraged. :-(

Don't get discouraged!!!!! I've read a hundred times from people on here that your IV fluids and other stuff can make you gain at first. Give it some time. How are you feeling? I'm in the petrified mode right now. I have 7 days. Are you able to get your liquids down?

Your weight loss is phenominal! I hope I'm like you. I'm 55 and as I posted above, I'm petrified right now! Sometimes I want to back out.....but I haven't.

Ssilian - thanks for the encouragement. This is my first day at home. Trying to get my liquids in. I'll be able to tell you better by the end of the day. I know it seems like I need to be burped like a baby after I swallow (especially if I take too big a swallow) I have a glass of waster and a glass of nectar Protein sitting right here by me and I am trying to take a sip of both every few minutes. Basically feeling pretty good, just extremely tired, and I have trouble getting comfortable to sleep. I usually sleep on my side, and that doesn't feel real great right now. Not very much actual pain though.

newhope - I came home with a 10 lb weight gain and FREAKED! Over the first week it came off. Your's will too. You sound like you are doing exactly right with tiny sips every few minutes. I don't know your diet, but warm chicken broth sure felt good too. I also had a hard time sleeping on my back for a few days, I think it was the fourth day I used the headboard to get on my side and it was okay then. I loved my heating pad on my tummy too. Keep up the good work!

Looks like everyone's doing GREAT! I don't get the opportunity to get on the board as much as I did when I was recuperating, but still take quick looks.

Joni - Yep, super, duper busy lately. I guess I'm having to "pay the fiddler" for all the slacking off I did while recuperating. I no longer have that luxury, so now I have some catching up to do at the Fire Dept and food Bank. However, I need you guys to hold me accountable! If you don't hear from me, you gotta come and find me :D . I will try to get on the boards a little more often than just every 7-10 days though. I sure do miss a lot and have to spend some time catching up! Looks like you're doing awesome!

Hi all. Today feeling much better. I guess this is my third day post surgery. I have lost 9 of the 11 lbs I gained during surgery. I am able to take bigger sips than I thought I would be able to, but have to be careful or I get the hiccups or start burping, which I discovered does not feel good. I'm suppose to be on Clear Liquids for 7 days, then I go to full liquids.

Hi I'm 51 and 3 months out lost 53 lbs... not having any problems some slow weight loss some weeks more on others... When I work double shifts 16 hours I don't lose weight.. as with most of you depression was an issue I take anti-depression med now it has really helped. I think that it is a really big change for your mind to grasp but it will get better as your body get use to the changes. Good Luck to all I love this forum. It really helps to chat with others that have the same issues.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
