Stalling Already :(

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Feb 4th, I have lost 12 lbs, however...i have not lost a single pound this week, feel a bit bummed out about it. I also went back to work a week later and that was fine, surprised at how fast I felt good. My pre-surgery weight was 206, today I am 194, been there for a week :( Not sure why, I even started walking on the treadmill every other day for 45 min, about 2.5 miles. I hope this is what they call the 3 week stall. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks. Just seems I eat such a little bit and should lose more. I'll remain optimistic though, I know it takes time, just ready to see that scale in the 180's already. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts/inspirations to share. Thanks.

I am post op 30 days plus days and lost approx 35 lbs. First follow your diet instructions exactly. Keep working toward your goal. Weight loss is an individualistic thing, not all folks progress at the same rate. Stay away form the carbs also, do more Protein and keep your good attitude toward life. And all will work out fine.

Additionally, remember your body is in shock and is probably struggling to figure out what's going on. It'll catch on soon and release the weight. I'm 14 months out and am experiencing a stall too; except mine has been going on since November. You being so early out, will definitely not last that long.

somewhere in postland, someone talked about how the liver stores glucogen? and when you lose so fast, your body says "whoa nellie" and holds on tight, releasing whatever was stored in the liver, then you stall. After a while, you adjust and you start losing again and storing whatever it was back in the liver again. So the cycle continues. I am not sure how accurate or scientific I have been but search around and I bet you will find more info.

I to had the 3 week stall and it was a bit frustrating, but around 4 1/2-5 week the weight started coming off. Then around 6 weeks I stalled again for a week, but now it's a pretty steady loss every week.. I can't believe I am almost 10 weeks out.. I've done good and lost during the 10 weeks 50lbs!!!

i had my 3 week stall, at 2 weeks  But im aware your body goes into a starvation type mode roughly every 3 weeks or so, and holds onto the weight.

See how it goes next week, as i will :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
