anyone else riding their bike?

i got myself a bike at a yardsale and fixed it up and have been LOVING riding it!!!

i have only had it a month and am planning a wedding but have managed to log over FIFTY MILES!!! i just cant believe THAT! the most i have rode at once is 10 miles but i am still testing the waters! i really think i could do more like 20 MILES in a day if i just pack a lunch have a safe route. the safe route is the hard part. we have a 50 mile trail close by but i am afraid to get out of town alone. i have a 'tazer' you know shocker but heck i could shock myself!

today i am going out around my neighborhood instead of the trail but i may have to PUSH my bike up the hill to get home! when calvin and i walk it we call it 'heart rate hill' cause your heart feels like its gonna bust out of your chest!

wish me luck!

I definately suggest against riding with any kind of music. If you cant hear traffic, you are much more likely to get hurt!

I don't see many cars on the sidewalk and I can't hear traffic when I am in my car.

I also don't see too many cars on the trails I ride.

Do you have any facts to back up your allegation or did it just seem to make sense to you?

LisaG,

All I can say is that Cannondale is nothing but the truth!!! I understand it was specially designed by women, at least the one I have which is an Adventure 400. I cant wait to get it out on a trail and really put it to the test.

Depending on your idea of a trail...it won't be the bike that gets tested....it will be you.

HUGE transition from pavement to dirt...unless it's hard packed and smooth trail.

I'm trying to strictly keep this one on pavement. I found that my area has quite a bit of nice paved trails. I rode 11.7 miles on Saturday -- all pavement.

You go gunn4ya, you are on fire. Tssssssss

I will get a bike when my butt gets smaller.

Hi All, I Am New To Biking As Well. I Hadn't Riden A Bike In Over Ten Years. I Just Started Riding About A Week A Go. I Am Starting Off Small, But Doing Around Three Miles A Day. I Have Interested My Whole Family. My Dd Who Is Also Over Weight Started Riding Too, And She Is Doing Ten Miles A Day. My Dh Goes Wtih Her And He Does A Few And Then I Go And We All Get Our Work Out Done.

I love riding my bike, it feels so freeing!! I couldn't barely go a block when I started and now I can ride a few miles and a few hills. Sometimes I worry about my big butt sticking out (altho smaller now) but mostly I just dont care. I am riding with the breeze in may hair it feels great!

Yes I have a bike i got my surgery last of july, and just started riding again, slow at first, but now we all rode about 2 1/2 miles tonight . it was great. i made it !!!!! :0) we rode all around our neighbor hood.myself my husband and twin girls. it was a pleasant ride...virginia

i am pleased to see more cyclists, i myself love cycling and used to compete alot until i got BIG, i also worked in various cycle shops in my teens. I thought id join the natter.

The good thing about a bike is that it is usually rather painless way of doing cardio, i mean running always seems to hurt me (plus i only have feet with one speed).

To thos worrying about the bum ache, my advice is that yr butt does get used to it by your 2nd or 3rd consecutive ride, some helpful aparatus would be. As suggested a gel saddle cover, or a gel saddle although the gel saddles are very restrictive to the motion of yr legs. What i find helpful is to buy the padded insert for under yr pants, these help cushion you.

For people worring about a bike which will hold them, i £99 dual suspension will cope with alot of punishment, just ensure you tighten the rear coil as this can cause a very tough ride for the newbie as alot of yr exertion is absorbed in the suspension.

Cycling is great at burning calories and i recommend it to anyone.

One of my personal goals is to ride Hotter than Hell here in Texas. August in Amarillo is about 107. I am prebanding now, I have concerns that post banding will I be able to consume enough liquid to stay hydrated?

Any imput?

THANKS!! I will try them.

Hi,

Yeah..love those bikes. I at first started on a recumbent style bike at the Y while working out a few years ago. Moved up to spinning classes and then this summer bought a road bike for outdoors!!! Lots of fun to go with friends and chat away the miles...when you can breathe that much!

TRY SPINNING! IT'S AWESOME!!!
