African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

I'm so glad I found this thread... I'm 39.. 307lbs I am approved... but my appt with my surgeon is not till next week due to the holidays... I'm excited... Ready to start my liquids and sch a surgery date... I will keep everyone posted.... Thanks again for this thread

Congrats on the approval. How long have u been going through the process?

Thank you. I started in July, I had to do the six month with the dietitian my final appointment with the dietitian was on December 5th. But once UHC approved me it was on December 31st. So now my doctor (Jonathan Taylor) was out of the office last week and this week all booked up so my appt with him is on Jan 16th. I was hoping to have the surgery in December but Now I just want it soon so I can be healthy and confident again :)

What's been you're experiences with the healing of yourincisions? I know we are more prone to getting keloids and just wanted to know if anyone had any ugly scaring.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using VST

Could it be that the plan changed January 1st. Can the insurance grandfather approval since you started the process prior to January.

Thank you

After being on the phone back in forth for for hours with the insurance company,
