Setting a realistic goal weight...

Recommended Posts

I think you are on the right track dawg... from your before and after pics... you look absolutely thin to me.

I go back and forth with my goal weight daily... Deep down I want to be that 175, but I know that 200 is completely realistic for me .... Guess I am just seeing where I get, but that number for me is always something to strive for.

Dawg...you mentioned 'skin'....extra stuff....you have talked in the past about working out at the gym....I'm thinking that working out is the way to go - it will change the shape of your body and will give you a more realistic idea of what you want your goal weight to be....my sister recently lost over 100 lbs and worked at the gym 6 days/week and her goal weight was 20 lbs lower - after working out she changed it to 'at goal' and doesn't need to lose anymore weight....just food for thought....also-ya might want to talk with Telly - she's very into the working out 'image' and might have some good stuff to share with you

Dawg,

I was in a chat room late last night with a woman who was 200+lbs a few years ago. She is now a certified personal trainer, certified pilates trainer and yoga instructor. Her body is "SICK" I mean she has a killer body. She is 5ft 7inches weighing 150lbs and just put on a size 4 pants with 14% body fat. Her pictures don't lie. She made me and another bandster rethink our goals. It really isn't about the weight on the scale, it's about your body composition. Muscle v/s fat. Muscle weighs more than fat and she looks extremely fit @ 150lbs.

I have rethought some things through last night and I think I will be changing my goal weight to ......what looks and feels good.

I know when I looked and felt the best I was b/w 150-160 so that is what I am shooting for. I was doing lots of weights and didnt' have much fat. It really is all about muscle/fat proportion. I think once I get to 175 I will start to finally see my old sexy body emerge again. I can't wait but I stilll have a ways to go!!

I think part of my problem (maybe all of my problem??) is self image. I can't look in the mirror and say "hey, you are looking good" because I don't honestly believe I can think that about myself.

I am fundamentally negative about my personal appearance (and can not be convinced that I have positive characteristics) so setting a 'goal' weight isn't a bad idea.

I -should- be going to the gym. I have fallen flat on my ass though on that achievement. It would be incredibly smart to go do it, but thus far - I pander to my laziness.

The "best" I ever looked was during a two year period where I was consumed with martial arts. I could run 4 miles, swim for 2 hours, and run back 4 miles. I thought I looked like a sack of crap.

I have to be careful, or I could easily swing the -wrong- way and end up to thin, so its going to be a balancing act. The gym is where I need to be, but I can not (thus far) think of a way to get motivated.

I don't even walk on the bloody dreadmill now. Bah!

Hell, I'd like to be 270lbs with 6% body fat. I have my suspicions that this won't happen without a bit of effort.

well here is some motivation. 270 with 6% bodyfat will have all the women swooning (sorry pnut) and I think you would have a serious number of groupies. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
