Almost 40 lbs makes a huge difference. I know it has to be hard seeing some people lose double that, but sometimes slow is better. Your body is doing it at your pace and your skin has a chance to tighten up as you lose. Still 36 lbs in 2 months is a huge accomplishment. When else have you been able to lose that in a short amount of time.

I have not been able to say that for a very long time... I'm 8lbs away from being halfway to goal.. So I suppose if it took me another month to lose those 8lbs I'd be on the way to goal in a total of 6 months... We can all find positives in little things! :) change of atittude..... YAY 36lbs!!!!

Heck ya that is good! I have two months on you and I have only lost around 41 pounds and I have only lost 3 pounds the last 5 weeks. Those were my fault though, I have been a lazy butt. You are doing great, I know that almost 40 pounds makes a huge difference. I grabbed a pair of dress slacks from my closet today because I was going to go apply for a part time job at a local school and I had not had my dress pants on since last February when I resigned from my county job. HOLY COW those things slipped off my waist and were down around mid thigh, if I didnt have such booty it would have fallen straight down to my ankles. My husband was like DAMN those kinda don't fit huh? YA THINK?

-36 lbs is AWESOME!!!! You are doing great!

And I agree with you on the zero food issues....yay! I've been laughing (inside...not openly) at all the nutrition classes and support groups that I have been to, when everything is geared towards the Band or Bypass and they go over the "chew chew chew" rule, and "sugar = dumping" and I'm like okay, tell me again why I should not get the sleeve? Duh, it's a no brainer when you look at the sleeve compared to other WLS.

Glad you are doing so well!!!:thumb:

You're doing great! Some people who are very obese lose a lot at the very beginning - some who start slightly lower on the BMI scale don't lose that fast. But hey, 38 pounds in two months IS HUGE!

You have a lot less to lose then most of the ppl losing more than you. I am almost 2 months out and I've lost just under 40lbs but 5 was preop so 35lbs. You ARE one of the fast losers.

almost 40 lbs? And you're a lightweight? I think you should be really proud! I have about the same amt to lose and i'm afraid it'll take me at least 6 mos to lose 40lbs! I know it's tough when you want to be at goal already, but you're almost half way there... You would have been so happy to know this 2 mos ago!! :)

Keep up the good work!

I think 38 pounds is amazing. I never could have lost that much weight this quickly on my own. Look you are almost 1/2 way to your goal in only 2 months. Celebrate it!!! I know I will when I get there. I have a lot further to go than you.

Keep up the good work!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
