11 days post op . . . when can I eat/drink comfortably???

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I am 11 days post op and everything has gone as good as it could go I guess. Never had much pain, just soreness. Didn't take any pain meds once I was discharged. And have started going to the gym a few days ago.

I've lost 20 lbs. as of 9 days post op appt. Happy about that, but that also includes pre op liquid diet for 2 days.

My question is to those of you who have been sleeved, how long before you could eat and it not feel uncomfortable? How long before you coul ddrink without feeling uncomfortable as well? I can drink Water okay, just really slow, and I just want to be able to drink like a "normal" person.

Haven't felt hungry at all yet. So wierd. And haven't felt full either, just uncomfortable (which I guess is the new "full sensation" post surgery).

Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.

Oh what's a typical amount of food you can eat at 1 month, 3 months, etc? Thanks

I'm not sure of your answer because i am only 5 days post op, but i read your post to get some answers too, my question to you is was your surgery date moved up, cause it says nov. 1 which is when i had mine, and also, how are you getting your protien and electrolytes? you said your only drinking small amts of Water? good luck and hopefully we will be giving some advice soon instead of asking all the time like me..LOL

My surgery date was moved up. To Oct 26. I'm getting my Protein in. I have 2 shakes a day with non fat milk and that puts me at almost 70 grams right there. I'll typically have some sort of soft "mushy" food mid day. But I threw up after eating refried Beans yesterday. Guess I ate a tablespoon too much. Man this sucks. I don't even have the desire to eat much now bcuz it's uncomfortable.

How have you been doing with Water? Getting better but have not had 64 oz to date. Hopefully soon.

at this point, i am not drinking plain Water, it takes all i can do to get in 11 0z of protien shake to get 42 grams of prot. and some sips of Vitamin water and a cup of broth. thats it for me in a waking day. how long after surg did they let u start eating mushy food and what do u meant by uncomfortable? is it like the band. or im not sure you had a band. does it feel like its in your stomach or higher up? thanks for the info....vicki~

Congrats on the 20 lb loss so quickly you will be at goal in no time!I was not aloud to eat mushy foods until day 15 and it was slow going at that my first meal was cottae cheese and I was only able to get in 2 oz before I got that "unconfortable feeling" But it does get better every day, I can now eat my 4 oz of pureed protien with very little trouble, and if it is really soft like greek yogurt or refried Beans there is no trouble at all. I no longer have to take tiny sips I can take pretty much normal person sips just not able to guzzle drinks. Oh and I am on day 18 I had surgery on Oct 21st. So just try to have some thing to drink with you at all times yesterday was the first day I was able to actually get all 64 oz of fluids in and I had a bottle of Water conected to me ALL DAY LONG , that is when I was not eating. Good luck to you

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
