Thank you SOOOOO much for this list!!! I had one started and got some great ideas from this. Would never have thought about chapstick, but it makes sense. Thanks again!!

My nurse ok'd some sugar-free Halls Vitamin C drops. My throat hurt so bad, I was really glad I brought these to suck on once they determined I had no leaks and were letting me have small sips of Water.< /p>

im definitely going to keep it simple. from past hospital stays, bringing too much almost always ensures that I wont use any of it. LOL. Ill be bringing the contents of my pocketbook, some Spanx to hold myself together as I like to say (I have some looser types that I used after the birth of my children), my cell phone, a bar of soap and a soft washrag (I cannot stand the hard washcloths at the hospital) and a change of loose fitting clothing. my hospital is always good about supplying toothbrushes and toothpastes, pillows, etc. etc. i'll be too busy resting to read...and I wont have time for much else, as i'll only be in the hospital 24 hours if all works well.

I just want to say thank you to all the people who have had their surgery and still come to this forum and post. I've read through this entire thread and it seems like most people come before their surgery and then disappear. That doesn't help me at all. What helps me is reading the posts from the people who are taking this journey, through the highs and the lows. You have lots of wisdom to share and a lot of new people who are eager to read your posts. Thanks again. :)

I wore the tank top one that you wear underneath your bra. I bought it at Walmart for $12, it was my last purchase after surgery! I wish I'd thought diet before my surgery.

Laptop with cord (install Skype or some other voice chat to save on phone calls!), books, magazines, stuffed animal, some sort of crafts (e.g. knitting), Spanish dictionary if you're heading to Mexico - might not be necessary, but why not improve your Spanish while there?

Is that really you in your profile pic? How much did you weigh before you started the process? How tall are you? You look amazing! Great job! You should be so proud of yourself!

Hola Sleevers,

I edited the list for Mexico Sleevers and attached it in both a Word and pdf format.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
