Self- Pay Insurance- does that cover WLS at all?

Hi!

Just wondering, since I work for a small company that does not provide health insurance, I have to purchase it on my own. Does anyone know if self-pay insurance actually covers WLS? Seems like it's all company sponsored insurance that covers it.

Thanks!!

It really all depends on the specifics of your policy. And, it's a stretch to say that all company insurance covers it. I work for a rather large company - the largest in my county - and they say no way jose.

In shopping for your policy, make sure you understand what is and isn't covered.

I'd start by looking up the benefits of your package. Not all companies carry the same coverages, because let's face it...it's expensive. Unfort it's just another way to cut corners. :( Good luck!

Hi, We are self pay kaiser I did not qualify because my BMI was 36 and I did not have apnea nor diabetes but if I had been 40+ or had those co morbidies I would have been covered.
