I more or less stick to high Protein low carb diet

Yeah, that's all I've been able to eat according to my food plan so far. I moved into "stage 4" today, actually. So I can have "canned or soft peeled fresh fruit". But I'm sort of scared to try them because any meaningful amount of sugar turns me inside out.

Guess I'm just half gay (I'm bi with a hubby and a gf) and have support from them both tho they say I'm beautiful just as I am.

I was curious about the bears as well. I would hope you all wouldnt be shunned just because you lost weight. Thought as long as you are bears at heart... But then again, in my circle, I am a BBW. I know some will shy away once I have my surgery or after it becomes known that I had it done. Their loss but it will hurt just the same.

I have seen some fuzzy bears who are not fat but are more beefy and muscular. Perhaps that can be you guys??! Once a bear always a bear?

Eh. I only recently joined the bear community at the behest of my skinny friends because they thought it would boost my morale and I'd find a sense of community. As someone who is only "recently fat," I never thought much of the bears and I was never into chubby guys myself. It wasn't until I started gaining weight that the bear community even noticed me either.

Yes, there are "muscle bears," (but those are far and few in between) as well as bears who are simply furry without being overweight. But I haven't yet determined whether I will eventually be able to take in enough Protein and calories to get my bodybuilder physique back. Honestly, I'm not sure that I want that anymore. It's a bit of a slippery slope for me anyway.

I have a husband (no girlfriend like you--I'm a monogamous gay, not bi) who loves me no matter what I look like, so I'm not so concerned where I fit in.

Ha! I'm just greedy, that's all! :)

I think you found where you fit in.. Right in hubby's arms! Oh and I'm sappy too! But it's true!

Aww, you're sweet! Yeah, he can be very cuddly. And confidentially, I hope this thread is terrorizing straight people! Hehehe

Sorry not phasing me in the least.

I'm just glad I found out that your avi was w/a wax statue. I thought it was you w/your husband.I

I was gonna say with a tall, fit, well dressed broths like that you better get back in shape.

Glad I was spared the embarrassment now.

LOL!! That's hilarious. You're not the first person on here to think he was my boyfriend. Nah...I can't go with guys who are taller than 5'10; judging from the statue, Morgan Freeman is like 6'5. I'm only 5'7 and I don't like feeling like a horny smurf.

My boyfriend is 5'9 and his people were Amish. It's hard to believe that he and Morgan Freeman are even the same species. Not that Mr. Morgan doesn't have his own sex appeal...

Yeah, it has been a source of both humor and contention. He's one of those high-energy guys who can never just sit still and relax. It'll be literally 1 o'clock in the morning and he's building furniture! That's what the Amish do, they build things. Yup. All the time. Never a dull moment. Yup.

6'3"? Damn...what happened? You have two Y chromosomes or something? hehehee...just kidding man. I wanted to grow to at least 5'9. But no...I inherited my parents' genetic garbage from the shallow end of the gene pool.

Omg, I'm almost 6'3" (i know, tall for a female) and my wife is about 5'8"... I wish me being taller had that effect on her. Oh the things I would do for her to BE a horny Smurf... Now that I think about it I guess I should say, oh the things I'd do to her if she WAS a horny Smurf. Either way, I'm sure you catch my drift =)

So glad to see you guys using this forum! The other night I posted on Atlanta Craigslist on the M4M section looking for other guys that have had WLS and some FU*#ER flagged It so it was deleted! All i was trying to do was find others that were gay and had WLS so I could find locals to talk to!! Pissed me off but anyway, I hate to hear your friends are not wanting you to lose a certain amount of weight bc u identify with the bear community, other communities, etc. .

Honestly I've always been into the muscle bears anyway, just not other overweight guys, I've always liked thinner guys.

As you all probably know I had my surgery 28 days ago today(4 weeks ago July 26th) and ive lost 26lbs as of Monday this week. Feeling better about myself already and I think it shows in my personality bc I seem to be getting more attention already, I'm actually on my way to Mississippi now to meet someone I've been talking to for almost 3 years who is the most amazingly sweet and Absolutely GORGEOUS guy!!!

I myself have no problem not identifying as a bear anymore, I want to be thin! I want to feel comfortable walking around without a shirt, or getting completely naked and just strutting my stuff in front of other good looking men LOL...Bottom line no matter what, I'm me first, not a bear or anything else first, just me and that's most important, you all remember that!

I hope this works out with this guy, we've both wanted each other for a while, We both thought the other wasn't interested after he stopped talking to me when my brother was really sick and before he passed. He stopped talking to me bc he knew I was stressed but I sure wish he had told me how he felt lol. Anyway, wish me luck! I'll post later to update y'all on how it's going.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
