Mucus at back of nose / throat?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else is suffering from constantly feeling like you need to blow your nose or clear your throat?

I feel like no matter what I do it feels gross and it has been this way for a week or so.

Could it be a coincidence that I've picked up a little cold? Or is this a side effect of my sleeve?

I'm now two weeks out.

Thanks! xx

I have a little of this. I was doing the breathing thing in the hospital, the little plastic thing, and my nurse also said every now and then, grab your pillow at the belly and give a cough. SHe said from anesthesia, you can develop pockets of stuff in your lower lungs. I def. have this and have to cough now and then or feel like I have stuff in my throat or nose, like you describe. I was assuming it had to do with this. Of course there's a cold floating around my house too, so I'm hoping it's not that too. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I also had those breathing exercises and bubbly lungs for a little while, but this is definitely just in the throat/nose. I would have thought that any damage done by the tubes etc would have healed by now?

yup i had that and yup it's gross alright! and of course with it being fall time it could also be allergy season (if you happen to suffer from this) it does eventually pass on its own, but until then it's a royal pain in the gluteus maximus. . . i used mucinex alot during that time. . . good luck!

hmmm, yeah okay sounds like a nasal thing then that's separate. Just what we DON'T need. I was just thiinking that the mucinex pills are huge, but they have the little crystals that dissolve on your tongue for kids. That might be a good choice. Funny how I'm thinking of all these things now for myself... small pills and easy to swallow type cures. Hope you feel better. Keep your tissues handy I guess too!

Cool, thanks guys!!

I'm in UK and I don't think we have the meds you mentioned, but I'm sure the pharmacist can suggest something :)

Sounds super gross, but if you are willing to use a netti pot or other nasal rinse it really works. I had a sinus infection last year that would not die. Mucinex is awesome and helped some as did the mountains of antibiotics but to feel some relief the nasty shooting of snot out of my nose was the thing that helped me. It isn't weird to me though that if you were intubated that you may continue to have irritation at your throat. I am unsure about this one, but I wonder if as your stomach is healing if your tummy has extra mucous in it as a way to protect itself. If you don't feel better soon the doc is always the best route, probably better than a bunch of us online. Hope you feel well soon.

Anna

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
