Well yesterday I had my first visit with the dietician and the psychologst. Surgeon had to be rescheduled due to an emergency. The dietician said just continue doing what I'm doing but try to balance my plate out at dinner so I am not so hungry at night and to eat a more substantial snack in the afternoon so I don't overeat at dinner. She said that she thinks the sleeve would be a good fit for me. That was great b/c how my surgeon works is that you have to have everyone on the teams approval to even be considered for surgery. Not sure if that is common practice or not.

I was nervous about the psychologist b/c I do have a very complicated and dramatic past but have changed a lot over the last 4 years. I laughed b/c she looked at me and asked how old I was. I replied 23 and she said that if I could handle all that in only 23 years then I could definately handle surgery. But she does think I could benefit from a mindful eating class because of my emotional eating. There are 4 classes over the course of 6 weeks. Has anyone ever heard or participated in one of these before?

I am excited b/c I feel like I am actually getting everything done rather quickly. I am very much a list kind of person. And I love to check of these appts. I have so little control over this right now that I feel like that gives some back. I have my surgical consultation and PT appt. on sept 10th. I want this so much I can taste it and feel like over this last week I have really become more committed to changing my lifestyle.

I am also trying to work on the small bites and no fluids with meals but this is where I am hitting a wall. Any advice? I want to be prepared so I do not fail.

That's pretty much it. Glad to be gitting r done!!!

Sounds like you are moving right along. I'm a list girl too so I know what you mean about checking things off & feeling like you have things under control.

As far as the eating and drinking ... it's just practice. I cannot say that I've 100% conquered this - I keep a small glass nearby when I need to help something go down.

For smaller bites, I would definitely recommend using smaller plates - it's an old diet trick that really helps with portions. Also, invest in some cocktail utensils such as a few forks and spoons. Since they don't hold a lot, it really helps with the small bites. When you cut your food, just cut it like always & then cut those pieces in half.

Best of luck. As things get closer, I'm sure you'll have questions. Feel free to jump out here & ask away. I know I did!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
