Two months post-op....30 lbs gone forever!

Recommended Posts

Two months ago today, my life changed forever....and today, I am 30 lbs closer to being thin and healthy!! This was the BEST decision I could have ever made for myself!!

I am eating just about anything I desire, with the exception of salads. I cant have those until I am 4-6 mos. post-op. I choose not to eat breads and rice most of the time, but that is not to say that I dont have just a bite occassionally. My portions are tiny...but I am completely satisfied! I do find that I am somewhat of a grazer if I dont get the opportunity during the day at work to actually sit and eat the way I should. I still have some of the same old habits I did before surgery, and I am trying to be "aware" when I see myself begin to fall back into that so that I can do something different to break those habits. That is something I expect I will suffer with for a long time!

I dont consume near the amount of liquids that I used to. Sometimes that worries me, so I try to stay conscious about how much intake I am getting. I dont want to get dehydrated.

I am still wearing the same clothes that I was wearing pre-op, but they are all starting to get baggy on me. I have one pair of jeans that are a size smaller and I am wearing them. Some of the tops that were tight on me before are fitting nicely now. And my dress pants that I couldnt button 4 weeks ago are going on fine...

I am beginning to feel really good in my skin, even though I have a LONG way to go!! I cant even imagine what I will feel like this time next year!! It is exciting to know that I am on my way, really! Its not just a dream anymore....

Thanks to all of you for all the help and support. Without this forum it would not be the same!!

Karen

Congrats Karen!!

This surgery is amazing! Sounds like you are doing great!

I was so happy to have salad again too! I was eating it at about 4 months. I also graze during the day at work but the majority of it healthy, I allow myself one snack a day : )

Glad to hear you are so happy! Keep up the good work!

YAY!!! It is really such a cool tool. I love that we can still "sample" yummy foods and then move on. You are really rocking your sleeve. Way to go!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
