Hang in there Stacy. I know this must be so difficult for you right now. You've been looking forward to the surgery. Dr. Fisher is a great surgeon and worth listening to, but I think I'd want a second opinion as well if it were me. Let us know how you're doing. (I'm Bella over at lapbandtalk)

Thanks Lee! I will still be around, and hopefully I find something out or understand what Dr. Fisher meant a little better.

Hey all...

Just got my surgery appt. at Kaiser So SF. It'll be on my birthday. He would have done it sooner, but I'll be out of town until Sept 25. I'm 62 so my weight loss has been slower than when I was younger. I can't wait to be able to move easier and stop those dang blood pressure pills.

My doc is R. S. Alami. I liked him when I met with him but he was not mentioned at the classes. I do all the pre-op classes on Sept 7. I gotta stay with the diet plan...this will be great. :w00t:

Hi all...just wanted to check in since it has been a while. It is great to see all the South SF folks!

I have been on hold while I was being tested for sleep apnea, which of course came back positive because that is my luck. I am FINALLY going to a class on 8/9 and getting a CPAP machine. Mt test was 6/30 so you can imagine my frustration at how slow this is going. I have my final appointment and weigh in on 8/13 (still need to drop 1#!) with my surgeon Dr. Alami and I am hoping to be put on the schedule about a month or so out. All other appointments and classes have been done. This feels like it has taken FOREVER, but I am sure you all relate.

Labrys, I had my Sleeve at 59. My weight loss has been much slower than the younger folks on here. Sometimes it's a little disheartening, but then again, the pounds are coming off.

I was taken off my BP and cholesterol meds on the day of surgery. At my 3 month check, my BP was a little high, something like 136/80 so I was put back on 1/2 pill daily. I've stayed off the cholesterol meds. I have my 6 month checkup on 8/26 so I'll be curious to see how my new bloodwork is.

Good luck!

I had my VSG by Dr. Le as well. Not much personality, but he is very good. I would recommed him. As far as losing weight I have lost just as I have been expecting. I will next be breaking into Onederland, and that will be a little after 4 months. The good news is I got off blood pressure meds, the week of the operation, and a couple of months later I am off my sleep apnea. So this surgery helps in so many ways. I am whering shirts now, that I haven't worn since 1998. It's almost like the 2Ks never happened. I can now fit into restaurant booths, get off the car easily, etc, etc. This is the best thing I have done for myself in years. Good luck, success, and health to you all. Les

I LOVE reading all the helpful information. You guys are the best. Ash and Chrissy...thank you. You both have so many similar questions/worries I did before, but it is so wonderful to see you both so successful.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
